Forward PA Parenteau has accepted a PTO from the Detroit Red Wings. He's averaged 17 goals per season over the last 2 years.

Sam Bennett has a two-year deal in CAL. $1.95M AAV

That's about what he should get, a show me contract...good he got that done before camp. He should be only focusing on his game.

and

Friedman's piece on the new penalty for offside challenges, which will add a definite turn in things, esp in close games.

another new change that will affect things,

Another adjustment that will have strategic impact. Teams are no longer able to call timeout after icing the puck. The other club can still do so if it wishes, but tired defenders won’t be able to ask for the extra rest.

Babcock will still find a way to get around it. I saw him once make a 30 second timeout last close to 3 min.

The NHL Trade Deadline will be Monday, February 26th this season, the day after the gold medal game at the Olympics. That gives any player who is in Europe or on an AHL contract enough time to sign with a team and be eligible for the NHL playoffs

So Jagr might be back after all...

Ryan Ellis out 4-6 mos, which is why they signed Emelin.

Big news out of Nashville Predators camp today, as GM David Poile met with the media. Poile explained that defenseman Ryan Ellis would be out four to six months after a knee surgery this summer and isn’t expected back until at least early January.

I seem to recall Jagr saying a while back that he is retired or does not want to be involved in international play, such as the Olympics. Not sure if he is not signing to play in the Olympics.

Yeah, there's an NHL.com article today about him and he said he's waiting for an NHL deal, he wants to stay here. But I guess if he doesn't get that, he could still play in the Olympics.
Anyway, his agent is working 'around the clock'.

And he has a wish list...

"It's about going to a team where they have, let's say, fewer wings; going to the team that has a chance to win the Stanley Cup; and going to the team that plays similar kind of hockey as I do," he said. "And to the team where I know there [are] a couple of players that I could click with playing together.

"Money is a factor too. But not because of the money itself, but because if you took an offer with a minimal salary, it could easily happen that after the first half of the season they tell you, 'Bye,' and you don't have a spot on the roster anymore. Myself, I'm curious to see how it's [going to] turn out."

Horvat got paid.
I think this deal will be good for the Canucks in the long run.

It 6 yrs., 33M (5.5 per) which will be very good for them. I like Horvat and they need to build up around him, once the Sedins leave, they can focus on a new core, regime.

Eichel
Read today that Eichel wants to be a Sabre long term and wants an 8 yr LTC, which I'm guessing will be in the 11M range. He's got all the tools, great player. And I think the New GM and coach will benefit him.

Franson to Hawks

Cody Franson signed a PTO with the Hawks, and that might be good for both, they needed a top 4 d and he needs to show he's worth a contract.

CAnucks
SIgned Scott Upshall to a PTO

If I knew who was running the league, I'd let him know, but he appears to have gone AWOL. Aren't others on here in that fantasy league?

If someone PM's me a list of e-mails I have no issues running the league. Also I guess what format (head to head, Rotissiere), what site (ESPN, Yahoo) and general layout preferred.

It was a Yahoo fantasy league that is head-to-head. I won the previous two seasons, so maybe they are secretly giving me the boot, since nobody likes a dynasty :sarcasm:

Old man Getzlaf came to my rescue.

If anyone else is located in Las Vegas (I believe their are a few), I found the article confirming what I believed to be true, the Kings will be blacked out here.
In Utah, some Golden Knights games might be pre-empted by the NBA’s Utah Jazz. The deal also means that Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks games will be blacked out in Las Vegas. Their games had been televised for years on Cox via Fox Sports West and Prime Ticket.

What I don't know is if that is exclusive to AT&T, or if carriers who don't have ROOT will be blacked out as well.

No, that's how you get it. Remember, NHL.tv or Center Ice are for "out of market" games, this is now the VGK market. So LA is now "out of market".

The problem is going to come from the fact cable and satellite companies mess this up all the time. Since they still might get prime ticket and fox sports west. They will just not show the games in question on them.
But you are correct in that anyone with center ice or gamecenter should get the games. But I just see many phone calls to tech support especially in the beginning.

Of course they will still get FSW and FSPT, as they carry the Clippers and Angels in addition to the Kings and Ducks. You are absolutely right though, the tech support stuff will be a cluster.

If you go to NHL.com and enter a Las Vegas zip code, it already shows the Golden Knights as the lone blackout for the region on NHL.tv, Center Ice, etc.
