“How do you miss that?” Doan cried. “I mean Rozy’s knee’s blown out. How do you miss that? How do you miss that when it’s after the whistle and it’s a knee? How can you possibly miss that?”
Kind of expected this, Doan retires after 21 seasons...about as fierce as they came.

Shane Doan announces his retirement in story in today's Arizona Republic.
Good. Now that he's off the ice I'm sure he'll be more likeable. One of the most underratedly dirty players in the game. Great career, though. And can definitely respect/appreciate his entire career with one franchise.

Kevin Allen on why the Avs haven't traded Duchene yet (and if true, would support Elliotte Friedman saying over the summer that GM's told him Sakic is 'looking for a unicorn)
he said (which I have heard from other areas) Columbus is pushing hard for Duchene . (Canes and Habs as well) Pens were interested, too I heard.
Sakic should be fired...

Know they have tried. Avs want big return: 1st rounder, quality young defenseman, proven NHLer and top prospect. Murray? Jenner?
Sakic wants everything and the kitchen sink. No way the guy is worth that.

There is no reason to trade the Kings 2018 1st round pick. It could turn out to be a top ten pick.
Wait, is that FOUR things he wants?! WTF....?
Here....
01) Our 2018 1st round pick
02) Jacob Moverare
03) Jake Muzzin
04) Michael Mersch (probably NHL-ready, *BUT* it's team-dependent-ready. I.e., if he's not ready for the Kings, he most likely will be ready for the Avs.)
And if Blake believes we still own the rights to Kubalik and Prokhorkin, then add those in, too. And if that's not an acceptable deal then, yeah, Sakic should be fired.

I'd rather sign Vanek for 1 year and see what he can do with Kopitar than trade Muzzin and a 1st for Duchesne.
Along the way, fans will be able to take part in a multiple-choice trivia game, with 10 question stations scattered (and well-hidden) throughout the maze. Each station tests the knowledge of casual and hard-core fans with questions about topics such as training camp and the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with additional nickname- and player number-matching activities featured on the maze's observation bridge.
I think the point Dee is making is Muzzin and a 1st won't even get Sakic to pick up the phone.
The Kings have nothing the Avs want, when it comes to a trade for Matt Duchene.

They would probably do that. I get what you are saying but the Kings do have things the Avs would want: the Kings are not in a position to give them up, however.
To be fair, nobody in the league is really in a position to give up what Sakic is asking for, hence why Duchene is still an Av. He is going to need to remove one of the requested pieces.
He'd get plenty of traction if it is a 1st round pick/young quality defenseman/good prospect. Or he can just ride Duchene out on a garbage team and wind up getting nothing for him when he walks.
He'd probably get more at the deadline in the way of futures when teams with Cup hopes feel like Duchene would push them over the top. Teams don't have a reason right now to meet Sakic's demands or even come close.
