The Kings aren’t built to score goals. The roster is to slow and gritty and Stevens has shown time and again that he values grit over skill. Brodzinski, Amadio and Iafallo have all been scratched this series in favor of Mitchell, Clifford and Thompson. Enough said.

It's not like we had an anemic offense in the regular season. We were a middle-of-the-pack offense. When you have guys like Kopitar and his career high, same with Brown, then Carter, Toffoli, Pearson, a rising Kempe, Doughty and other pretty offensive defensemen in Muzzin and Martinez, there is no reason to say that this team is "not built to score". That's just a horrible excuse to say because we've run into a brick wall named MAF and we've been outplayed and outcoached. Yeah, our bottom lines have sucked but most of the blame should go to our main core. Scoring an average of 3 goals per game (apparently that's what has been needed to win games in this series) does not require to be "built to score." This team has simply not played to its capabilities in this series.

He played 23:32 last night. None of the Knights defensemen even played that much. He led all Kings forwards in PK time. Then at the end of the game Stevens makes him play essentially 3 straight shifts with no break. That's an impossible situation.

Meanwhile, Rieder, whose strength is killing penalties, didn't see a single second of PK time.

Iafallo is buzzing all game long he gets 12:52 in ice time.

was like that in 2OT the other night too, mind boggling. Ice time was Martinez, Fantenberg, KOPITAR, then VGK and everyone else. Like, that's unreal.

Normally I would be happy the Ducks got blown out but the Kings kind of suck too and it's San Jose that's doing the winning so I couldn't care less.

And DeBoer still rolling out his #1 power play when it’s 6-1. Sharks gonna Shark I guess.

As he should. This is the playoffs. Not his problem if the Ducks fail to show up to play. No sympathy whatsoever to the team getting taken to the cleaners during playoffs. Don't like it? Throw in the towel and quit.

I notice we get wrapped in with the Ducks on the "typical Kings/Ducks, goon it up in a loss thing" and I don't get it. Hell, I WISH our guys would abuse anything BUT the goalpost in the last couple of minutes of a game.
Everytime they say that I'm like " but where?!" They got the wrong So Cal team

I agree with you in general, but the reality is this team has basically been Kopitar and everyone else. He’s been ridden too hard and it’s showing. Also if Kempe and his zero goals in 30 games is “rising”, well no wonder we’re in deep shit. ;)

That was the mentality they used in 2014. It didn’t end well for them.

lol, you think the 2018 Ducks are anything like the 2014 Kings, or either situations the same (other than some fantasy reverse jinx that's gonna have the Ducks reverse sweep the Sharks)? Ok. You're right. Ducks are gonna come back 0-3 and reverse sweep the Sharks, for the Shark's second time.

"Lousy f***ing Kings have only scored 3 goals, pathetic!"

* notices the Ducks have given up 14 goals while also scoring 3 goals *

The Ducks are kind of the opposite of the Kings, they have lots of guys who are ideal secondary type players but they don't have an elite #1 d-man and I don't know if Getzlaf is still an elite #1 center.

Really interested to see how Kesler plays next season, he basically had a Mike Richards 2014 type season, they are saying he was banged up, and I'm sure he was but he will be 34 next season with a ton of miles on his body.

Even in the minors, they really don't have anyone who will replace Getzlaf , Kesler or Perry. But hey, how about drafting all those dmen?

The Ducks will look at 2015 as their blown chance in the Getzlaf/Perry era.

Won that insane game 5 in OT to go up 3-2 and couldn't finish them off.

Agree with you. Baldy and Kesler are not getting any younger and to add to that, Perry is declining. They have some nice young pieces and I think their defense is fine with guys like Lindholm, Montour, Manson and in addition to Larsson and Pettersson coming. I don't necessarily believe you need an elite guy on the backend to have success, see: Pittsburgh.

I thought Gibson was the second coming of Jesus according to Quack fans.

Jesus doesn't save shit in the series.

No two teams are directly comparable. You don't need an elite guy on the backend like Pittsburgh, as long as you have Crosby, Malkin, and it seems like Kessel's name has to be thrown in there now too.

If you don't have both Crosby and Malkin, you probably need an elite guy on defense. If the 18 skaters are good enough as a whole, you don't need the greatest goalie. If your goalie is really good, then as long as you have something passable in front of him, you'll be alright. It's a zero-sum game out there.

Instead of going full "huRmaGUrdLol" try putting your thinking cap on. There are more outcomes than just the Ducks coming back to win the series. Do you really think, despite what they showed at the end of the game last night (and really, forever since Getzlaf and Perry have been their leaders), that it's beyond someone like Perry to come out tomorrow pissed off take a swing at say, Martin Jones and break a finger?

It's just not a good idea to run up the score when the game is out of hand, like, ever.
