I don't think it will be BS if Gabby goes on LTIR. The guy is injured for months for several seasons now. His body clearly is not physically fit to play in the NHL anymore.
Isn't that a reason why he should be on LTIR?

Devils clinch first playoff birth in 6 years and Taylor Hall will finally get to play in the post season after over 500 regular season games without a trip to the SC playoffs.
Kinkaid has been solid for them between the pipes.

Won't get that far though. Flyers and Panthers are tied in ROW. But Panthers need to win both their games and the flyers lose their last game to tie in points. That would give the ROW edge to the Panthers.
Am I missing something? I suppose the panthers could win their last 2 in shootouts.
What does Hedman have on Doughty?
Hedman has good advanced stats, but they have almost the same amount of points (Hedman with one more, while being on an infinitely better offensive team), but Doughty is the #1 D man on the #1 defensive team in the NHL with the #1 PK? To me, he is the literal best Defensive D man in the league, and has been for years.
I don't see how Hedman is any better defensively, is clearly at best equivalent offensively, and the advanced stats stuff I grant, but thats about it. Is it a new flavor of the month kind of thing? Are east coasters embarrassed to admit Doughty it really, really good? I can see an argument for Karlsson, who usually outscores his problems, but Hedman does not produce at nearly the same level.
Edit: LOL NEVERMIND, HEDMAN'S ADVANCED STATS ARE THE SAME AS DOUGHTY WITH LOWER REL%. WHAT DOES HF SEE IN THIS GUY???
Part of it is he's Swedish, and not Doughty, so Swedes and Ottawa fans especially have latched onto him. It's more a "not Doughty" vote than a Hedman vote for a lot of people. Plus, top eastern conference team, so everyone sees him.
But part of what you say for Drew applies to Hedman, it's at least really really close. Hedman is the #1 d-man on a Cup favorite team. He is getting softer minutes though, especially with McDonagh there now, but he's had a magnificent year. Maybe I feel different if I watch 82 games of Hedman instead of Doughty, I've only caught a handful, but on paper they're close. By the eye test, Drew has to do so much more for LA it's insane, but I don't think that's fair to hold against Hedman either, you can only play the minutes you're given and he's crushed those.
I think Drew's been better enough to say that he'd be my choice, but I don't think you can go wrong either way, but I think the enormous contingent of eastern voters will vault Hedman up. That's what the midway votes showed by a significant margin and I'm not sure much has changed, both guys went the distance with great seasons while other guys surged and fell. At least ballots will be public this year so we know who to ridicule for the Kronwall #1 vote![]()
Yeah I'm not saying you disagree, just that I wanted to put the numbers out there. Hedman is a great D-man on a great team. Doughty is Great D-man on a bad team.
And we know what Doughty on a good team looks like, because we saw him put up even better defensive and better possession seasons before (IE, some of best defensive and possesion seasons in league history).
Fox and Faust have to call tonights Duck-Stars game on NBCSN.![]()
