Anaheim is kind of struggling right now. Vermette being out 10 games wouldn't bother me at all.

The Ducks are 5-15 against the top 10 teams in the NHL. They're a pathetic 8-20 against the top 16.

They're just getting ready for their annual playoff failure.

The Vermette thing is probably the dumbest thing i've seen in a while. Tapping the linesman with your stick? Really? Doesn't matter what the officials do, you don't do that stupid ****! C'mon, you're a veteran! At least he didn't diagnose the linesman like Dr. Doan.

The amount of whining coming from Hayward was legendary, though.

It might have been 'nothing' but yeah officials are off limits. Blows my mind how many people don't seem to get that (not @ you obviously).

But he's a Duck. It's in his DNA.

I was laughing when he said it was "nothing" This isn't anything new.

Just saw Ken Hextall on the phone here in Calgary and immediately thought TRADE!! haha like he cannot just be making a normal every day call.

And just like the parrots that they are, there are a number of Ducks fans saying the same thing. The YouTube video comments are hilarious. Sad that their only education of hockey is from listening to that imbecile, and watching the Mighty Ducks movies.

Hayward's as big a homer as they come but I am actually a little surprised he was that adamant. He played hockey. He knows the officials are untouchables.

of the 8 Leaf rookies, 6 with impressive stats

Mitch Marner 15 goals, 48 pts
Matthews 27 goals 46 pts (and he had 14 game drought)
Nylander 15 goals 38 pts
Zaitsev (defense) 2 goals 26 pts
lower line players
Connor Brown 12 goals 24 pts
Zac Hyman 8 goals 23 pts.

When Babcock came on board and with a much better front office, I figured by year 3 they'd start to move up. But they are way ahead of the curve. They will address their defense in the off season (JVR plus a top prospect ) for a top 4 d and might even sign a FA. That is the last link for them.
THey are fun to watch..all these rookies.

Love Marner, he's the total package, what a beast....

Alzner would be a good fit under Babcock.

Is what I figured he would get but not what I thought he deserved.

Yeah with that ruling, it's open season. Spear to the face is 6 games? the league was safer back in the day when players could take care of themselves. If the current philosophy is "we'll take care of you by punishing that" instead of "police the ice with fighting," they're doing a terrible job supporting that.

So which of those rookies have a sophomore slump?

I don't think Marner or Matthews will. I think Marner is a much better player than people know yet since all the focus is on Auston.

This is why i'm currently worried about Drew.

ALL TO will reaaaaaally need going forward is a top RHD. Reilly could be a stellar #2 to him. Add that Babcock is there...ugh. TErrified.

for that they would have to go three years without bringing anyone else in and overpay a boat load for him and have the cap space available (which they won't)

Drew maybe from Ontario but he grew up a King's fan. No reason to get worried about him leaving in three years at this point

I agree.

DoPS has to follow the CBA about this. The CBA is clear that injury to the player speared and past history of the aggressor play a factor in determining # of games.

So while I certainly think he deserved more, based on punishments given to other players like Keith, I fully expected 5ish games.
