One would think the Sharks will play the game they played at SAP in game 5, but the extra day of rest for the Perds, and the extra weight of past failures for the Sharks... maybe the Perds have the jump they lacked on Saturday, and maybe the Sharks grip the stick a little tight.

Hopefully it's a better one than tonight, regardless.

Looking at the Stars summer, they've got 4 of their top 7 defensemen as UFA's. 4 of their top 5 most experienced defensemen. Of course all that money in those 2 goalies.

Always interesting how things play out. Dallas didn't have one of the most dangerous offensive players in the league, a questionable defense, and at best average goaltending. They beat Minnesota, without Parise or Vanek, whatever people may think of Vanek. It took St.Louis 7 games to beat Chicago, who had 3 defensemen. Then 7 games to beat Dallas, with no Seguin, and all the other questions outside of their remaining forwards.

Other than the Kings, the Rangers would be the other contender for worst looking team in this year's playoffs. Kuznetsov couldn't score against the Flyers at ES, or the Penguins at ES, so the Caps had 1 line. They lived by their PP against Philly(like the Kings did in 2010 against Vancouver), and didn't have enough depth scoring to keep from falling down 3-1 to Pittsburgh.

Are the Central teams really as imposing as they seem? By the time the playoffs rolled around, I'm not sure. The Caps ran away with the best record in the league, but only had one line scoring in the playoffs, and were led in playoff goals by TJ Oshie of all people. He finished with more goals in this playoff year than he had in his career coming into this playoff year.

Look at the Kings in 2014, and Vlasic went out for the Sharks. The Ducks can't win Game 7's at home. The Hawks had no 2nd center. The Rangers couldn't hold a lead.

It really is a war of attrition. Every team has a weakness somewhere. Just have to take advantage of the other team's misfortune, and the teams that do that most effectively, are the teams that win.

There is no way to top the 2014 run unless they could of won the Cup against Detroit in 7 games and have Game 7 be in Detroit. Only thing I can think of since the Wings were in the WC for so long since the Kings beat their three current top rivals on the way to the Cup.

Most would prefer beating the Rangers anyways so, if that were the case, the only way to top it would of been winning in seven games.

That's how insane that run was. That was the top of the mountain. Don't think it will ever be topped...reverse sweep over SJ, beat the Ducks in the first playoff match-up ever with the crazy Game 1 and then Game 7 beat down, beat Chicago in 7 with some of the best hockey anyone has ever seen and then beat the Rangers with all three home games being OT winners including two double OT games.

Give me a break. Anyone that would trade that experience for the possibility of winning more Cups in the immediate following years has not suffered through the horrors of this franchise, needs to understand that one in the hand is worth two in the bush or maybe its a case of both.

2012 was losing our virginity. 2014 was the best sex any of us will ever have. I hope to have more in the future but it will never be as magical as the first time and it will never be as mind-blowing ridiculous as 2014. The last couple of seasons have been a burning, itching sensation from the fall out of '14 but the sex was worth it and always will be.

The sex analogy is good. For years now I have been trying to think of how to describe my feelings about the two cups and your description is spot on :handclap::handclap:

So we're guaranteed Final that will consist of one team that has won before vs a team that hasn't.

And only the Blues have actually been to the Final before.

I hope Nashville makes it just to see people's heads explode in Canada. Those losers are already crying about that possibility on the main playoff boards.

Lots of people here are cheering for nashville...not sure so many have to turn this as Canada vs USA all the time. for me the only reason why it sucks that no Canadian teams made the playoffs is because it means less revenue which impacts the cap, which effects the kings.

That Chicago LA series was simply amazing. I forget what OT it was that was played in like 25 minutes of real time or something (my memory may be thinking it was faster than it actually was), the kings lost that game but it was the one of the best games i have ever seen.

As far as the sex analogy :handclap::handclap::handclap::handclap::handclap::handclap:

Game 5.

2012 was the courtship, 2014 was the honeymoon. Now you're married and you aint getting it like you used to.

hmmm 2012 was the courtship, 2013 was to busy with wedding plans to really get anything done, 2014 was trying for a kid...been busy raising that kid since.

this actually follows my wife and I.

I'll have you know, good sir, that I had a conversation with the produce manager at our Safeway about the playoffs today. Oh we so...so want Nashville in the finals. Quite a few canucks enjoy the 'super defensive' teams in the playoffs and Nashville fits that bill well.

;)

The difference in revenue is negligible.
Remember we are talking about how much more they might make over the teams that are there.
Even given the biggest example which would be Toronto. I doubt they would bring in more than 5-10M more. That means 84-168K on the cap. Even going to what I would consider extreme and they made 1M more per game that would be a max of 16M or 267K. And add in the fact the Loonie is right around .80 they would need to bring in more than that 1M to be at 1M.

ya I forgot it's not the NHL thar loses money it's rogers that takes the hit. So all that really does not matter.

I wonder if Nashville is aware this is an elimination game and you need to show up?
