Anyone else afraid that this could be San Jose's year?

The only 'fear' i have of that is the obnoxious hot takes already taking place.

Despite hearing from San Jose for years how 'average' Quick is ("he's basically Niemi!") and how he's only had one good playoff run we're now hearing how Jones is the better goalie...despite having a worse regular season than Quick and one good playoff run (incomplete).

Despite having an awful first half, now Burns is a Norris winner and the most impactful defenseman in the league and Doughty doesn't even deserve to be a candidate because he didn't even score that much at even strength and isn't really that good defensively.

Like the team in general though, but in less than a week I've gone from rooting for them to hoping they go up 3-0 in the Stanley Cup Final and lose 4-3 in the most excruciating way possible.

Edit: and the constant complaints from everyone in the organization and media about the reffing, my god, they've been jobbed in some way every single game...

Having an awful first half, then turns into a Norris winner...gee where have we seen this before? But hey...POINTS!

I hate the Sharks and a large majority of their fans. They will be insufferable if they win. Nashville has a big road to climb. Hoping Dallas/St.Louis puts a stop to them.

Go Caps!

I was thinking the same thing reading the main boards. Sharks fans were *****ing about Burns in the beginning of the season and now they act like it never happened. Unlike Karlsson and Burns, Doughty didn't have any long periods of poor play. How quick they forget huh?

Yeah, he waited until March and April. Great timing Doughty.

The funny thing about some Sharks fans is that they still haven't gotten over the Kings, so many of em still talking about the Kings. I think 2014 may have permanently scarred them mentally.

He flipped the 'dumb' switch in Game 82 and never looked back

There were literally more goals scored with him on the ice in that series than there were many months in the regular season.

Some main boards user (Trap Jesus, bless his heart) did an analysis of a huge chunk of Sens goals against like 3/4 of the way into the season--50+ of his 80+--and on 35 or so, EK was clearly at fault, another 10 he shared blame, and only 5 or so he had no control over. it was appalling.

I did the same look at Drew at the time, who had only been on the ice for 30 or so ES goals against at the time (He ended at just over 40 IIRC, that Jets game hurt his stats BAD, that's how good his season was)...and he was only directly responsible for 3 and shared responsibility for like 7. It was astounding how much of an impact he had. The other 20 or so goals were things like McNabb falling down, McNabb passing to the other team in the slot...actually pretty much all but one or two of them were 'caused' by McNabb in some way. I'm not going to say if Muzzin was his partner he'd have zero goals against or anything, but my god, until the last week of the season, DOughty just WOULD NOT get scored on. People seem to really underestimate his defensive play this year--he was #9 in offense and arguably the best defensive D in the league.

Sharks are going to win it all and Pavelski will get the Conn Smythe.

if they do, they will deserve it. as much as I dislike the team (more-so the fanbase, honestly) they are firing on all cylinders and playing some world class hockey right now. they are looking better and better with each passing game, too....bad news for everyone else in the West. if they do win, wont it be more palatable saying the Kings lost to the eventual Cup champs? right???

I still expect them to choke.

They have yet to even make the Cup finals one time - after how many playoff appearances now?

Although I will say if they at least make it to the conf finals that that SJ/STL will be a heck of a series, or SJ/DAL (more entertaining).

I'm hoping for a Sharks-Caps Final. That would be supremely exciting. Top power plays going head to head.

The Caps would actually have to start scoring, especially their big guys for that to happen.

And Letang was really lucky that hit wasn't a 5 and a game. He may still get suspended for his hit.

If Letang was a useless plug like Orpik, maybe. But he's a bonified #1D and a superstar. Won't even get a fine.

IDK, seeing how it was only a game since the Orpik hit, it's still pretty fresh in the minds of the officials. But yeah, I can totally see your point about him getting the star treatment.
