But but but .... isn't he THN's pick for the Hart?

What a joke. Subscription: cancelled.

I think Karlsson should get more Hart consideration than Norris consideration this year, but if they miss the playoffs he should be penalized just as Drew was last year.

Ottawa would be the worst team in the league without him, it's just a pretty bad roster.

Giving up goals to Silfverberg, Cogliano, and Hagelin all in one game. That's pretty rough.

To be fair, the defense in front of Anderson was absolutely brutal. For that 3:29 Ottawa was an absolute dumpster fire, scrambling around like cockroaches when a light goes on in the kitchen. Just absolutely brutal.

Loved Cogliano's stop-and-no-look shot for the first goal. Fooled Anderson on that one.

His metrics this year for Defense are bad, it is, what it is.

Agreed

But people are still ridiculous here, you know constant whining about the media and the Norris last year even though he clearly won in Bob MacKenzie's poll of coaches (10 from each conference) on who was the best d-man last year.

I don't think he'll be winning the Norris this year because he has struggled defensively and his team is bad. Still think he is the 2nd best d-man in the league behind Drew. And it's a big drop off after that.

It's the Maple Leafs + Karlsson and Hoffman. That team is not making the playoffs, unless the Hamburglar repeats his feat from last season.

Ottawa is a bad team, with horrible metrics. Karlsson is cheating a lot to create offense.

But that shouldn't excuse him from being completely lazy in his own end.

Agree with everything you said here.

And I do think his boom-or-bust playing style leads to some of those issues. Problem is people that like him want to have their cake and eat it too--they don't acknowledge that his numbers are inflated by offensive-only deployment and a full green light, but defend to the death his defense because he has to take chances. It's hypocritical, and that's less about people posting on HF and more about the hockey media when I say that.

It's a two pronged problem with Karlsson this season, he's playing too many minutes, and he's cheating in his zone trying to create offense. I agree with the notion that he's MUCH more deserving of Hart consideration (if they make the playoffs) than the Norris.

They aren't making the playoffs. Team just isn't good enough to make the top 8 in the Least.

Hmm, for some reason it seems that Sens fans forgot to bump the Karlsson worshiping thread on the main board after tonight's game, I wonder why...

Ottawa would be an AHL team without Karlsson, but they will never be a cup winner relying on just him on defense. He needs to always have a solid defense partner to make up for his mistakes. His offense is insanely good but really no point when you let in so many goals, effectively cancelling out the offense generated. He's not the number one defenseman that can be counted on to win games, especially in the playoffs. He's fun to watch sometimes but really brutal to when there's like two opponents in front of his net and he's nowhere in sight, or when he gets deked out of his jock.
