FLA/LA final is my dream

the outrage would be biblical

Nothing pisses me off more than when people call LA a non-traditional hockey market. You have to have a good base to have a team for 50 years. When LA got a team Toronto and Montreal were the only Canadian markets with NHL teams....so does that make LA more of a hockey market that places like Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton (WHA does not count) .

People who suggest that do not know the history of the league, and have the heads in the sand.

If you really want to piss people off I would think Dallas, Anaheim or San Jose vs Flordia/Carolina would be much worse.

This league markets its original 6 teams like they are gods and every other team needs to be thankful for their existence. The league wasn't a league until the 67 expansion and the next 6 need more love IMO. Think about how lame you fantasy hockey league would be with only 6 teams...and think that was the way the actual league was.

No one, and I mean no one, is talking about the Blackhawks, but they have seven in a row and are just steam-rolling opponents.

Kane is having a phenomenal season, and is probably the best player in the NHL, but how many years is he going to have 62 points in the first 44 games? Without Kane having this type of year, where would Chicago be this season? What will Chicago do when their playoff opponents inevitably target Kane for extra physical play?

I like the Kings' approach much better. Things are more balanced, including the payroll.

Kane is on pace for over 120 points!!! Crazy
Crawford is always over looked IMO

Dorsett is an embarrassment to the game. **** that guy and **** the Canucks. Total toilet franchise.

And so is the team he plays for, if their reputation wasn't already clear, it got solidified last night . I was watching that live when it happened. Gallant was redfaced/stoke level/ ballistic and rightfully so.

Luongo on Derek Dorsett punching Montoya: Had 60 minutes to fight anyone willing and able; wanted to do it after the game. #FlaPanthers

He got it right, this is what happened, what I saw after Sedin trashed talked:

#FlaPanthers #Canucks scrum starts when D.Sedin skated to FL bench talking; Montoya threw glove arm at Dorsett -responded w/ punch to chest

I laughed out loud when the Cats broadcaster said this, of Daniel Sedin (just after the goal) skating towards the Panthers bench, making a face, said something and pointed.

Sounds like the FLA broadcast of the altercation was epic. "Normally they only use those fingers to lick the peanut butter off their bread."

Canada's dollar drops below 70 cents U.S. for first time since April 2003, @CdnPress reports

Dat's not good....

And the Hawks extended Joel Q three more years, new deal ends in 2020.

From Elliotte Friedman's 30 thoughts column today, why the Ducks might be the leading contender for Drouin, which he talks about in the article and points out:

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/30-thoughts-ducks-a-logical-fit-for-lightnings-drouin/

3. Here’s what I understand Lightning GM Steve Yzerman is looking for: a young player who is under team control for some time. He has enough contractual concerns over the next few years that he doesn’t need any more.

He can’t take on money without sending it back. (Some other execs speculated he might try to package Matt Carle with Drouin.) That’s why, as good as Kevin Shattenkirk is, it’s not an easy fit for Tampa, because he’s going to get paid big-time in 2017 and you can’t extend him until July 1 at the earliest, assuming he is even willing to sign.

Among the needs are a right-shot defenceman or a forward with some edge, which is why Robby Fabbri’s name is out there. At AHL San Diego, Anaheim has the league’s number two scorer among defencemen and rookies, Brandon Montour, a right-hand shot. The Ducks could also consider Nick Ritchie. On paper, either move makes sense. In practice, who knows?

EF also says that there were teams who thought they had shot at RJ but the Bluejackets were holding out for what they wanted, Seth Jones, and Poile finally cracked.
18. Everybody’s got their favourite Alex Ovechkin stats. Here’s the wildest one, to me: There is only one player from his draft year within 300 goals of his 501. That’s Evgeni Malkin (287). The next closest is Andrew Ladd, with 195.

The second-place guy from his draft year is 306 scores away! It’s just obscene.

I still think Drouin is going to the Ducks, it makes the most sense to me and they need offense. Though I don't think Drouin has been that impressive so far in his career.

I fully expect the Ducks to go after Drouin. Hopefully they give up a lot for him. I wonder if Fowler or Vatanen would go the other way?

Ducks have the assets to do it, that's for sure.

I had a feeling Theodore was in the lineup (for injuries and stuff as well, obviously, but since the opportunity was there too) because Anaheim will be moving a RHD, whether Vatanen (unlikely imo) or Theodore or whatever. Total guess on my part though.

The Ducks seem like a fit for Drouin, but they are going to be up against it next year. Some guys are getting significant raises, Gibson's hit goes up 1.5M and so on. Their cap space is going to get eaten up and they are going to need those prospects to fill spaces from Stewart, etc. They will probably want to send a roster guy back instead of a prospect.

Then there's the internal cap. A lot rides on what Drouin's performance bonuses are in his contract, as it's quite a big difference in AAV.

Torres suspension is up and he's eligible to play on Thurs. Hopefully, Wilson will bury him in the AHL until the end of the year , when his contract it up

But then again, this is Wilson...logical thinking usually doesn't apply.

Oh god ****ing damnit.

Hopefully he isn't on the roster by the time we play him again.

Knowing Wilson, Torres will go down for conditioning and miraculously show up for our next game.

I wouldn't worry. Torres is a knuckle-dragger, but even so he is smart enough to know when he has played his last card. This guy might be the safest player to play against, going forward. He probably will be a traffic cone, lest he accidentally hit someone.

Please excuse my crude Photoshopping. It was a rush job and I am late for lunch.

:)

Is Drouin even worth the hype?

potentially.

Normally I would be hesitant to pick up a player that Steve Yzerman is willing to turf, but if you have an abundance of assets to pair with a need, he's surely worth the risk. And Yzerman appears reasonable in his demands, so we'll see what it finally costs.

Is Drouin even worth the hype?

DON't think it's hype, I don't think Cooper liked him and IMO was far too publically critical of him last year in statements to the media, not what I like with a player that young, keep it in the room. I think that did affect the way he played.
I think on a new team, given the right linemates and reg minutes, PP , PK he'll be fine.
Stevie Y is looking for equal value, top player in that age group (which is reportedly a defenseman) , in return, so both teams get a need filled.

The Ducks would be dummies if they traded someone like Vatanen away for Drouin, the kid is going to be really good. I could see them dealing Ritchie or Theodore or something. Who knows, Drouin could go to somewhere totally unexpected like Winnipeg.

isn't his injury going to put him out longer than his suspension? Thought I had read that somewhere

I think Theadore + something small makes sense for both clubs
