And what the **** is wrong with this board? Why is any Kings fan even defending Doughty? His hardware and play on the big stage speaks for itself. Why waste your time responding to these ****tards? It amazes me how many of you post on the main board. Especially Doty. He posts this long, detailed response to get a single letter and emoji response. "K  ."

RP: "Hi, I'm Reclamation Project and I'm a main board poster."

Main Board Posters: "Hi, Reclamation Project!!!"

RP: "I have not posted in the main board and have had an avatar for ?? days."

Hey, remember that one time Karlsson did something of note that meant anything at all to actually winning something? Neither does anyone else. The irony is all of those dissenters will be sucking his **** come Olympics time while he's the best player on Team Canada again. Count on it.

Meanwhile who will we 'Muricans have? Ryan Suter? :help:

I just think the Norris trophy in general is pretty messed up.

I don't think Doughty necessarily should have won last year, but HOW he lost is stupid--basically more people thought the winner WASNT the best d-man.

It's clear the PWHA writers as a whole have some issues in voting for the trophy and one is that everyone disagrees on what a good d-man should be. And since there aren't 'easy' metrics like 'points' for defensive aptitude, **** is all over the map.

I want a King to win a major award, but I'd much prefer the major awards to not be screwy, too.

If EK is your best defender, you're not winning jack **** unless you've got someone like Kevin Lowe i.e Paul Coffey helping man the blue line behind him while he's dipsy-doodling elsewhere. In tournament play, every mistake with the puck is magnified and defense is at a premium. That's why Sutter (and Babcock) loves Doughty. He's a low risk player in his own end who elevates and produces offense on the biggest stage while being an elite defender. Doughty doesn't need to cheat to take over. He's just as likely to make an eye popping defensive play to win a game than a goal or assist while rushing the puck up the ice weaving through a defense. That's why I laugh at these guys who say Doughty doesn't have elite offensive skills because he's not scoring 60+ points a season. You don't completely clown the best teams and defenses in the league in the playoffs with middling offensive skill. Nobody else does it and nobody gets immortalized in highlights like he does. Best on best, he's the best.

They really need to create an award for best offensive dman and give the norris to you know, those who actually play defense. He plays the easiest 30 minutes of anyone in the league, floats in the neutral zone instead of busting his balls to get back, its a joke.

He reminds me of the old Ovi when he used to cherry pick on the offensive side of the puck (he's becoming a good 200 ft player under trots). So sick of hearing EK this and EK that when the guy is just a forward playing D. Yes he's gifted offensively, but far from the best Dman in the league, just shows you how much of a joke the voting is in this league.

Many of those writers should lose their vote. One particular writer voted Kronwall as first. No other placements. Just a first place vote and that was it.

Players should be voting the awards, or teams as a whole.

or coaches or GM's, someone whose opinion holds weight

And the hab-nots, who had been controlling play completely in the third with a one-goal lead, completely melt down and allow two goals to Tampa in 0:21.

Interesting stat from the Avalanche / Sharks game. Avs have now managed to score the 1st goal of the game 10 games in a row.

4 penalties against the Sharks already, still 5:32 left in the 1st.

Avs have converted on two of them.

The funny thing is the last time a Kings d-man won the Norris he had no business winning it. Nicklas Lidstrom never should have lost any award to Rob Blake.

I thought Doughty deserved it last year, but it was really close.
