I watched the replay several times (the view from the top is the best), and while the hit was definitely late and worthy of a penalty, the hit itself appeared "clean" to me. Prust never left the ice, no elbow involved, shoulder was to the chest, and, as far as I can tell, there was no head contact. However, I don't really know Prust, and I don't know his history of any dirty hits.

Biggest thing for me was this was deliberate, late and targeting. I don't care if he left his feet. Stepan had no chance it was so late. Watch Prust, he's looking at him the entire time and zeroes in. For me, more than two games was necessary and I'm shocked because Prust is essentially a nobody. Wrong message,er, no message sent to him.

And I hate the Rangers but love the game.

Remember: It's the playoffs, and the league's rule of thinking is that one playoff game is equal to two regular season games. So, in their mind, they essentially hit Prust with a four game suspension, which would be about average for this type of play.

From my own perspective, that's about right. Clearly, it's interference ... the puck is well gone before Prust follows through with his hit to Derek Stepan. But, the primary point of contact (and that's important, according to the rulebook) was the shoulder/chest. Stepan's head snaps forward, causing his chin to make contact with both Prust's shoulder and his own chest, which is where I'm sure he broke his jaw.

Is it a suspendable play? Absolutely ... but, it can't be classified as targeting the head, because the head wasn't the primary point of contact. Of note, the suspension reason is listed as "interference".

I think they got it right.

As for the suspension to Carcillo and Prust being deserving of the same length ... no, that's just wrong. Carcillo's suspension carries an automatic 10 games, and rightfully so. He hacked a referee in the legs and then threw a glancing blow at his head. The ruling there is absolutely justified - playoffs or not.

I don't agree with this logic. If you injure a much better player on the other team, and the series has several very important games to go, the importance of the games dictates that the suspension should be longer, not shorter.

Way overvaluing Ovechkin. He'll be bought out, surely. After all, according to at least one poster on here, he's a worthless player who does nothing but make the Capitals worse.

Because that's what was said right..?

We're a better team after getting Dubinsky and Anisimov for Nash. The Islanders were worse off after they got Vanek for Moulson. How or Why?

Why do teams EVER trade the "best" player in a deal? Maybe the last couple months of a season, but these GM's don't make trades to make their teams worse. If these "awesome point getters" (Wiz, Ovy, etc.) values are seen by the GM's as near what you guys think than a trade could easily be made that could help the CBJ and WSH out more than what their superstars offer.

If you read the part before what you bolded, I said the league's rule of thinking. Based on the precedent that they've clearly set in prior suspensions, this is on par with what they think is fair.

Tonight's national anthem at MSG was pretty cool. I wish we had an organ playing alongside Leo like how Chicago, NYR, etc. do it.

I know its a product of a change of scenery doing good for a player, and that he wasn't as good here and we don't need centers, etc... But man, sometimes I do wish we had Brassard here still. What a shot, very good player

I can't stand the way either team in this series is playing.

Classless play by both teams.

Hmmm.....tonight's game was excellent. In fact, despite a couple of incidents fueled by intensity, three of the four games have been excellent.
