Robert, he may score a few more with Price possibly out.

I hope you're right, the only Canadian team I like is Montreal and that's only because they are marginal Canadian, but if it's the Rangers vs the Habs I'm all in for my New Yorkers.. I hope Nash lights it up, it's about time the dude grows up!!!

You may get your wish, Robert, but I have to say: "Viva La Canadians"

I think I'd rather give up on hockey than root for Dick Nash and the rest of our sloppy seconds.

From Elliotte Friedman:

Some things never change.

12. The toughest part of this search is determining where things stand with Wayne Gretzky. There definitely were conversations, but it's hard to pin down what's happening. One of the considerations for Washington is who would run the organization with him. CSN Washington's Chuck Gormley mentioned Sportsnet's Doug MacLean, and it makes sense. Again, though, it's tough to know for sure.

:laugh::laugh:

Wow. Gretzky + MacLean = disaster.

Gretzky + MacLean = Quebec getting their team sooner rather than later

Budaj had a nice run earlier this year. I think he's up to it. Should be great theater, anyway.

The only really downside I have to the Rangers looking like they might make it to the Cup finals is that Brassard would make it.

I really hate that guy. I hate him more than the Rangers. I hate him more than Carter.

Too bad about Price. He's had a good playoffs. It a shame to not see him have a chance to finish this off. Not to mention I like the city of Montreal and they are the only Canadian team I ever cheer for.

They were the team that I was cheering for based on what was left. If they lose, the Blackhawks are it (used to be from Chicago, but for some reason I love Keith. If I could trade for anyone in the league it would be him first). If we have a Rangers/Kings Cup, I'll just have to watch Golf or Tennis or something equally as boring.

I don't know if Howson would be the best for the Pittsburgh gig. Through drafting and trades Howson was great at adding good players to the organization, but I never thought he was good at completely filling out a lineup (Colton Gillies, anyone? Steve Mason?) and solving team's immediate needs, which is essentially what the Pittsburgh job entails.

The Vancouver job on the other hand.... They need to find a motherlode of talent without the benefit of top picks. Turning late round picks into NHL players was Howson's best mark of distinction.

And now Howson's in the hunt for the Vancouver job. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014/05/19/howson-interviewed-by-canucks-dont-laugh/

Howson to Vancouver would make my day. If they want the slowest rebuild through drafting ever completed and the most persistent GM in the history of GM's on getting players he covets, then he is their man.

He'd call about Dubinsky day one and take 4 years to engineer a move with us.

...and it would be a deal that would be universally lambasted, then a year later a lot of people would go, "Huh, maybe it wasn't bad after all."

While we're on the topic, does anyone have the photo of a cackling Howson holding a stack of cash? I can't find it anywhere.

I disagree. Some people would rebuke, others mock, some reproof, still others would remonstrate and I would guess some might even criticize. Personally, I would consider disapprobation.

I do have a special place in my heart for Quebec... But damn, the Rangers have only won the cup once in 50 years and after 9/11 this guy is rooting for them.. We will see.

Robert - I have always enjoyed your posts and comments. However I did not appreciate the interjection of 9/11 into your comeback. It was beneath you...... It was watching Montreal as a kid back when games were sporadically televised back when it was a league of six teams that got me hooked in hockey. They were teams that flew on the ice. Subsequently I had the chance to watch live hockey, albeit minor league when the Checkers hot town. That they helped get me hooked was a good thing and I have always followed Montreal since.
