I still don't understand why we didn't re-sign him. I thought he brought grit, scoring and stupid penalties. 2 out of three ain't bad.

Because we got a second round pick out of him, and used it to draft future NHL Superstar Petr Straka.

Wait ... what?

We didn't sign him either? What the...?

Bruins look tired. Chicago's speed is wearing them down. Losing Bergeron ain't gonna help.

And while I'm sure the "let the boys decide the game" crowd will disagree I think refereeing has continued to be bad.

While it probably wouldn't have mattered had it been called, not calling the trip on Krug that led to the empty netter sure as hell mattered. A 6 on 4 gives Boston a chance, not calling it iced the game for the Hawks. I'm not saying this was the only instance but it was the last and most noticeable.

LA got a pretty good return for a back up goalie too. Shows what goalies mean in the market.

Or a pretty crappy one for a guy who could turn out to be the real deal.

Interesting thing I read this morning-has Toronto created a goalie controversy fro themselves while doing nothing (as of yet) about a center shortage and D help.

Time will tell.

I found the payment to be fair. LA get Scrivens, a capable backup, Frattin, a gritty middle-6 forward, and a second round pick. Not bad for Bernier ... though, I have a feeling this deal means a lot for the Leafs and their future.

I think it was a good trade for both teams. I think it shows you can get good value for goaltenders even when they aren't number 1's yet. That is one reason why I would have no problem with us drafting another goaltender this year if he is BPA.

I think everybody wants to find the next Bob (young goaltender stuck behind somebody who's not going to be beaten out for a variety of reason).

We're trend setters!

Except Bernier was hyped as Bob before Bob was hyped as Bob.

If that makes any sense.

You know what's really causing the bad ice? A lockout that made Cup Final games have to be played on June 24 to start with.

Not sure I can believe the Bruins gave up two goals in the last 90 seconds of game six to lose the Cup….

Congratulations to the Hawks, I guess teams that start out winning 15 or so in a row to start the season are really good..

Congrats to Patty Kane... don't take any cab rides in Buffalo with that cup... ;)

Yeah, ouch. Bet there are some Toronto fans not too upset about it, though

What a finish. Hawks cracked the Bruins mentally - funny because what had gotten the Bs this far was doing that to other teams. Best team, beginning to end.

Kane a deserving Smythe winner, and with a great interview with Pierre. Crawford, Bickell, Seabrook all could have been selected.

Sucks to have hockey end but let's get the offseason rolling!

Congrats to the Stanley Cup champions, the Chicago Blackhawks. Giving up those goals when they did must have been heartbreaking. I would have liked to see the Bruins win but the best team all season proved to be the best throughout the playoffs.

Crazy ending. Blackhawks were the best team this year, so hats off to them.

48 hours until the buyout period begins. Let's see what happens around the league and let's get some dominoes falling... I predict an exciting couple of weeks for the Jackets.
