I'm pretty sure he'll be traded unless Conroy is instructed not to by Murray Edwards the owner. I imagine, at minimum they'll ask for a 1st and 2nd rnd pick plus a prospect.

IMO it'd be an RFA that's basically ready within 1-2 seasons for top 6 or top 4 duties and lesser emphasis on the picks. As @Ace Rimmer said, C with top line upside, but if a team doesn't have that, I think we would consider young dman with top pairing upside (need a couple year stop gap for Andersson if we trade him).

Given how the Flames operate and how they've approached this "rebuild", they'll almost certainly try to re-sign Andersson first. Which means any potential trade is pushed to next summer at the earliest, depending on if/how Andersson refuses to re-sign.
But if a GM wants to blow Conroy's socks off with an offer he can't refuse, then anything's possible. It'd have to be substantial though - like a young cost controlled potential top six center plus picks. Even next year as a pending UFA Andersson should still garner a Lindholm-like return.
I doubt Yzerman is the type of GM to pay the price to get Andersson in a trade regardless though.

Id stop short of offering Kasper or Danielson and a 1st but would (reluctantly) be okay with trading one of those pieces and some other pieces (2nd/other prospects) to get the deal done.
Kasper or Danielson would really hurt to give up so id prefer a 1st being the main piece going back to Calgary. I am sure you guys would feel the exact opposite of me on that and would focus on one of those prospects

Probably, Ask will be similar to what Ottawa traded for Chychrun. Keep in mind that Ottawa's 1st was quite high so if the buying team is drafting late then more value will need to be added

I can completely understand Danielson being off the table after the preseason he had but I can't see why Kasper would be. He's a good prospect but he's not really projected as higher than a middle 6 center. Calgary would be targeting him to be more of a long term Backlund replacement.Thanks all for the feedback. I think it's worth noting that if made available Andersson will be in very high demand around the league. There are only 2 other 1st pair caliber defensemen with similar levels of production making less than 5M in the league (Dobson and Bouchard), and both will be getting significant raises next summer unlike Andersson. Also his trade protection is pretty limited and will probably just include teams that are not near contention (and probably Edmonton).

Although, wouldn't be surprised if Conroy wanted Edvinsson too, not that he's available either.

I think Honzek should be sent down sooner than later. That would be the smart thing. Klapka shouldn't be eating popcorn in the press box either. Send Honzek down and you open up a spot for Klapka.

in the case of the Panthers, terrible asset management (in teh Vegas expansion) led to a stanley cup

Pretty much. Although he also had long stretches of inconsistency and really at no point could be said to be definitively better than Monahan, Backlund, and then Lindholm.
I don't see any reason why he would want to come back to Calgary.

Kid started his pro career lying to the team that drafted him about a shoulder injury. He regularly saw top 6 minutes and PP time but produced like a 3rd liner. He wanted top 6 minutes regardless of his play, which was that of a 3rd liner. Until Bill Peters started benching Jankowski, Bennett had semi-regular top 6 minutes, regular PP time and was still being out produced by Jankowski. He's regularly disappear for shifts and games.
The return for trading him was weak and likely a wakeup call.
He had seasons where he wasn't definitely better than Mark Jankowski, If he wasn't a 4th overall pick he would have never been gifted the top 6 minutes or PP time that he did get.

If this is true its the type of shit that makes me think Craig still isn't ready for the job. Lindholm and Hanifin saved him from himself last season. Making unforced errors based on small sample sizes is what f***s up rebuilds.
Murray Edwards has gotten excited again about making the playoffs and Murray is thinking about all that extra income. Conroy got a call the other night from Switzerland.
