Wonder why Bruz's number is crossed out.
I'm really curious how Barrie will do. If he makes the team will he snag the PP1 role, and who gets placed on waivers if so? At least 2 of Pachal, Solo, and Hanley.
In a recent Barn Burner where they interviewed Conny he said that both Zary and Pospisil will get very long looks at center in camp this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Rooney looses a starting roster spot at the end of the day. That should also in turn open a top 9 winger spot for someone like Pelts or Coronato to grab. Also unless Pelts is just awful at camp for some reason he's pretty much a lock to make the roster.

Yeah I dunno how I feel about Pospisil being on a scoring line as a C. Seems like a lot to put on a guy who's spent basically his entire pro career as a winger and found success in his NHL rookie year as a winger. 4th line C would be a good spot for him to get the feel of it, unless they really plan on sheltering his line. Zary on the Backlund line could be interesting, maybe switching off center duties with Backs game to game or shift to shift or whatever.
I don't mind Hunt or Rooney getting into some games this season but would rather it not be the opening night and definitely not more than 60 games. I'm not sure who is going to be playing down the middle for the Wranglers. They lost Ben Jones and Brett Sutter. Schwindt is poorly suited to be the top offensive center even in the AHL. Maybe they try Coronato there if he doesn't make the big club. I think if it came down to it it would likely be Pachal and Hanley going on waivers considering that's where they were acquired from.

The above lines were just things he plans on trying out. We don't have high expectations for this season so it doesn't hurts to try as many things as possible in camp. I would be shocked if they don't try Zary as Huberdeau's center again like they did at the end of last year. IMO they looked very effective together. I agree that if we are playing Pospisil at center he is probably more suited for a 4th line role. I think him and Lomberg would just create so much havoc together. I'd like to see Pelts play with Backs and Coleman but I could see him starting on the 4th line until we make some trades.
Lipinski and Morton are both joining the Wranglers as full time centers so they should fill in for Jones and Sutter decently. It also doesn't hurt to give Honzek a shot there if he stays with the AHL club. I'm not sure they would waive Pachal before Solo, I think with Solo's lack of games played he is more likely to pass through waivers. Hanley I think will get waived and I could easily see him getting reclaimed by Dallas.

I actually don't hate the concept of the Pospisil line. Which means it's f***ing terrible.
Zary needs to be with Kadri or as a centre though.

Calgary probably won't part is Lipinski, or the second rounders.
The second rounders in those years will be int he 36-40 range and far too valuable for a team rebuilding.

Both returned? That won't happen. Calgary is already locked at just 2 retention slots for the next 2 years and have players like Kuzmenko to flip between now and then. Also the odds of Coleman waiving are probably next to zero.
Your proposal has far too many moving pieces involved to be anywhere close to realistic. When was the last time you saw an 11 piece trade not involving 3 or more teams? The trade also doesn't really address any particular needs, yes they are upgrading their picks in theory but as stated above both of those 2nds are projected to be quite high, and if the plan for Buffalo is to be contending in those 2 seasons it's only a marginal upgrade. Yes Kulich and Ostlund are solid prospects but I don't see either projecting as a center at the NHL level, which is what Calgary would need.
If I were the Flames I would be asking if there is any chance Buffalo would consider parting with Power and what would they have to add to Andersson to make it happen. If your plan is to re-sign Andersson then I have a hard time seeing you fit all 4 of Power, Andersson, Dahlin, and Byram comfortably with all your forwards too

If you are wanting both at 50% you are looking at 1st round pick and a good prospect for each as a starting point. Andersson at 2.25mil for 2 years would get a kings ransom.

Honestly I would be all over Kulich for Andersson. I think he’s going to be a top line forward though. With Brewski, Weegar, Mews and Parekh, RD is still the strongest position on the team even if we trade Rasmus.
Sadly I think our organization is too short sighted to make that kind of deal.

The original includes Joker which also helps to address the transition period from having no top line RD to having someone who can fill in the role for the time being and then settle into the second paring if one of Brewski or Parekh are ready for top line duties.
I don't think we can retain on the proposal as is due to the slots available. Buffalo would need another team as a broker to accomplish that.
Interesting idea that could still allow the team to surprise this season or really start to make some noise starting next season.
There's definitely going to be comments about wanting to tinker with the proposal or certain pieces here and there, but I certainly don't think you've put together something that should be considered offensive.
Not sure the idea will fly in its current form, but the reasoning behind it is certainly neat and would be worth exploring. I'd be open to discussions of a move in this range.
Buffalo and Calgary could be good partners in a both short and long term type move as well as for both sides trading from somewhat a position of strength to address each other's weaknesses. Although I feel like that's only if it's a blockbuster move and not small basic moves.

It is a lot of pieces but Buffalo will need to add an AHL center if they are moving Kulich and Ostlund. And two NHL roster players have to go back. And Sabres would want to downgrade picks not just go minus on two picks.
Greenway could be flipped at the deadline for a 2nd. Joker could actually be, right now, a legit 2RHD in the right system with the right partner (maybe lol). And Sabres would retain half on those two this season (unless you need the cap dollars) to make them more movable at the deadline.
I agree that with retention it would cost a fortune for those two. Kulich Ostlund and two 1sts is a fortune. I think you don't need to move Kadri or Weegar or Huberdeau as cap won't be an issue for a few years and there aren't any other big contracts where deadline retention would be an issue.

Kulich is going to be a perennial 30 goal scorer, 1st line wing or 2C. Ostlund is going to be a 3C. I made the proposal knowing that it would hurt the Sabres (Kulich is an absolute stud) and that centers were a big CGY need (although this doesn't address the need for a bonfire 1C but the tank does) Trade only makes sense if yall are going full tank this season.

Flames fans regularly over value their players... particularly ones that recently had good seasons. In my opinion, for the right offer, nobody is untouchable. Last year Coleman had a very good season pts wise, by Coleman's standards. He scored 30 goals and had 56 pts. It was an outlier. He'll be 33 by the end of November and he has 3 years left on his contract. I fully expect that he will revert back to the norm of ~35 pts per season in each of the next 3 years.

I think some things in my response earlier were a bit misleading so I'll try and summarize some key points:
- I am quite high on Kulich and would love to do a deal around him and Andersson.
- There is just no chance Calgary would retain on both players at this point in time. They are already retaining on Markstrom for the next 2 years and probably want to retain on at least Kuzmenko this year, probably Mantha too. Retaining would also make it difficult to flip a guy like Greenway.
- Coleman has a 10 team trade list and while there is a chance Buffalo is one of them it's quite unlikely. He's from Texas and so it's not like Buffalo is close to home like most American skaters. I would be surprised if list includes any team that hasn't been at least in contention recently.
- If you have too many moving pieces then it probably means the deal can be simplified (ie if you think getting 2 2nds back in exchange for 2 1sts evens out the trade then it can probably be dropped to just 1 1st and no 2nds).
Overall I don't think the fit is bad I just think a deal would need to be simplified to have any chance of happening
Any chance we can send Vladar to Bos? With Swayman & Bos still in disagreement, they may need other options. They did draft him & know him well....
