Post-Game Talk: GAME 71 - The Bruins wave the white flag - San Jose 3 BRUINS 1

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I'm in agreement. Sway properly prepped, Mac and Lindholm back (hopefully) - there is, from the net out a solid structure.

Up after midnight watching that last night, no challenge, reactions from players . . .does Sacco survive this?
That was a powerful message to send to players blocking shots, fighting out of their weight class, kids up from the farm. A player would be sitting on the 9th floor the next game. And League-wide it looks bad. Bettman rewards that?
Agree - this is a great question

I’m so focused on getting top 8 that what you outlined here is 100 % valid

I’m going home tomorrow so I’ll be curious how my buddies think of this

Lysell feedback?
I thought he played good, was in on forecheck, didn’t seem bad in his own end. Wasn’t afraid to shoot, made some good plays.
My only real issue is he hangs out near the blueline in the offensive zone a fair amount so there’s 3 guys riding the blueline. Needs to get a bit deeper in there to give a few more options

I agree all coaches need to be looked at, but Goalie Bob stays if I had any say (which I of course don't)

His track record definitely makes moving on from him a tough call. He has had a lot of success here.

I didn't like when Swayman shut out Minnesota in Boston, the go into MSG the next night and instead of playing the hot hand, they turn it over to Korpisalo. Swayman has historically played well in MSG and keeping the Rangers to zero point was more important than the Saturday game against Vegas (which I would of gone to Korpisalo). Those two losses is where this current downward spiral kind of began.

Swayman's played poorly against everybody. That's a disingenuous take. If anything JK hasearned more time, but the optic of a 8.25M not starting important game is a bad look after caving into to an overpayment.
Mistakes, are made, but the worse kind of mistake is not admitting to yourself, and correcting, that means taking action and that is not going to be in the cards with this group.

Crazy that Sacco still has him beat.

That little post-coaching change bump gives Sacco the edge. They were the NHL's best pt. % from Sacco's 1st game until December 9th. (7-2-0 for .778%).

Since Dec. 9th they are essentially tied for 3rd last in pts. % with Seattle/Buffalo/Philly. (.427 to .430 between the 4 teams).

I don't know which coaches need to go but know that something isn't right there (as you and I have discussed privately). Sometimes it feels like the coaches are instructing the wrong plays and their strength is in another area of play (leading the PP for example)

Mc Avoy and Lindholm, have serious physical injuries, hopefully they will be fine, but no way of knowing until they get on the ice. Swaymans, decline is not physical, and it is between his head, and I am not sure he is worth the risk of trying to heal him, lie knee, or shoulder injury, they can come back at any time, I for one do not want deal with Swaymans problem, get rid of him.

After watching Pasta last night I'm convinced he'll ask to be traded this summer unless massive changes are made.
I don't think he will quit on the Bs right away.

He is very competitive but maybe they are working with him and allowing him some say in what goes on. I hope they can convince Pasta to stay as losing him would be terrible in so many ways. He a player you build your team around.

I really feel the Bs will rebuild quickly (within a couple of years). I don't see the Bs taking as long as Buffalo, San Jose or the Habs. I really don't.

I'd take a chance on rebuilding Swayman's confidence prior to trading him. Pennies on the dollar, unless another team blows you way with a "we can fix him" attitude of a deal.
I absolutely no fan of Swayman's contract negotiations, this past off season", but as a point of reference, look at Bobrovsky's career as a source of how volatile a goalie mindset/keeping technique, etc" can be and with 40% of his career being sub average for an NHL goalie, somehow, 2 cup, multi top 3 Vezina, he's a HOF in waiting. (much to my chagrin).

He will not ask to be traded at this point, I do not believe, but maybe it is just me, did that line look worn out last night ? I think are almost begging for some help without saying it. Bruins need to go after the only alternative, and was not always on board with this guy, but Marner is a must.

Sweeney signings, good enough for you, Swayman needs to be moved for cap space.
nope
Cap space will not be a problem, next off season, getting players that want to come here, that will make an impact is another story.
You always have to pay over market to steal a player worth stealing from another market.(E Lindy and Zad)
It's the buisness of ALL sport. Do you think Monte Williams leave the PHI Eagles unless someone "show's him the money".

Whether it was onside or offside isn't the problem.

It is to me. I can stomach an apparently bad coaching decision much easier than a blatant non-challenge for the purposes of tanking. The first one sucks, but it happens. The second one is a fireable offense to me, and if it came from on high, then whoever decided it should be sacked. One is a bad call, the other is a complete lack of integrity, so yeah, it matters to me as fan which one is true.

Lindholm was not worth stealing at all, they would have been better going with wing help than taking on a overrated C. Now what have now is still in need of a C, and you need wings. I also would keep my eyes open for a d-man, that is why all cap space you can find is needed.

Most of the great centers are gotten via the draft. Very rarely is a true 1C stolen. They're too rare.
The Lindholm signing was a knee jerk to not being able to win a faceoof in our own end, ever since Bergeron retired. Truly aweful contract for a great 3C. Work 5.5 to 6M max. Hell even Coyle contract is comparable in that it was 1-1.5M than it was worth.
Lindolm cannot drive offense.

Abe Rothstein is quoted as saying "I only bet on sure things" Sway should not be considered a sure thing.
