Their lease is up in June and they'll quietly slide over to Houston as a new home base. Its the worst kept secret in hockey -

They'll find some bodies, but players want to know where they'll be living & playing before signing extensions/LT deals.

If you can find a link, please post that where Avalanche fans will find it. It will be like a bucket of chum.:naughty:

Both Vancouver radio and Edmonton radio have been speculating about his avaiability. Team 1260 out of Edmonton has said several times they expect him to be made available for the right price

If they need salary to hit the cap floor, Winnipeg has a slightly used Wheeler they can have. I’d be fine with a late pick. That is all...

address the question. I have looked and there are a couple of teams with single digit players drafted--but most teams were built through the draft

Not interested in slightest regarding your question as it is totally irrelevant for Arizona like I already said. It is more relevant that since 2017 summer Zona has been near bottom of the league and drafted 42 players and got a bit over 100 NHL games from that group. What a major success.
With that runrate in scouting their next 42 picks will bring something starting earliest 2025 or later, most likely later. I would feel deep depression with that in mind.

Yep. The worst kept secret that literally zero insiders are talking about at all. Do you mean it’s the worst kept secret inside of your own brain where you made it up?

Do you believe in superstition? Things like curses and hexes? Do you think that’s the driving force behind this?

It yes, then I understand your position perfectly.

If no, then your statement is entirely without logic.

What in the world would any of that record have to do with a two year old ownership group, a one year old front office and scouting department and a brand new development and coaching staff?

If you hailed a cab, and upon taking your seat inside, the driver informed you that you must be a beastly dimwit, no better than a pig in slop, simply because those were the types he’d been picking up all day prior, would that make much sense to you? Does merely getting into the same cab that was previously occupied by those sorts make you one of them? Are you forever linked to them and share their legacy and future by virtue of plopping your ass in the seat previously occupied by their asses? Does your ass become their ass? Or do you retain your own identity and remain in control of your own destiny?

I don't understand the dissatisfaction with Bill Armstrong's work.
The previous GM did not do its job.

The new GM works great. Bill Armstrong serves as an anti-crisis manager. The new stadium will not appear tomorrow. Planning should take into account this factor and the interests of the business. It makes sense to build a competitive team in three to four years. During this time, increase the potential of the team.

Bill Armstrong does it well. He has small mistakes. It's not scary.
Most importantly, Arizona has a clear path. The team is heading in the right direction.

I think Alex Meruelo should be happy with the way Bill Armstrong works. I think it was he who set the main task for GM.

GM will begin normal operations in three years. The work of an anti-crisis top manager and just a top manager is different.

I don’t know how Bill Armstrong will handle the job of a regular GM.
There are valid hopes. The future will answer all questions.

yeah just tank for 10 years until you land a mcdavid type player. Are they serious? looooool
They traded for Phil Kessel and Taylor Hall like two years ago. Is this your first season following the NHL? If so, welcome! You’re going to enjoy it and learn a lot. If not, then you have incredibly impressive typing skills for a goldfish. However do you get those delicate fins to be rigid enough to tap the keys?

Just shows once again that the NHL secretly owns the Yotes and they will once again next year be the spot that saves teams around the league cap-wise.

Bettmans Coyotes are the dumping ground so top teams can continue being top teams and make the league a ton of cash!!!

I remember reading this conspiracy theory one day and it blew my mind how true it seems!!lol

The more apt question is "would your answer change if the cab had 'the brakes don't work and can't be replaced even though multiple mechanics have tried and the driver had their license revoked for reckless endangerment' in paint on the back windshield?"

It wouldn’t be more apt, actually. What you just said doesn’t make any sense.

Now with more snark
It will never end, the hate is strong. Its amazing how so many hockey experts know so little about what the story in the desert is. However, the story is pretty simple. New rich owner that may be a little unfamiliar with the unwritten rules for the league. Sportsbook that is only available with the Coyotes being in AZ, complete teardown, they type we never could have done before because the emphasis is no longer scraping into the playoffs but to get generational talent through the draft. Complete new staff, scouts and front office. A shiny new arena with a real estate development opportunity worth another billion dollars. The new arena needs to happen for this to make sense. AM is a specialist at taking crap companies and turn them around. The Coyotes are literally what this guy did to become a billionaire. Now on the other hand it is still the Coyotes. So screwing this up would be the most Coyotes thing to do. But, at least for the next year or two there ought to be a suspension of doubt as to what is going on with this team. Its going to be a joy to really commit to sucking, and sustaining it long enough to rebuild properly because it has never ever been done before here. All the stuff that happened before doesn't really matter that much. Lots of bad management, and the team probably should have been moved if not for the pride of GB. But that is what it is and no one can rewrite the past.

Build through the draft doesn't mean that you chuck everything into the ether and you get a contender. And if that fails you do it again.

What it means is you find the pieces you want to build your team around in the draft (due to them being cheaper and cost-controlled while you build out the rest of the roster). The Red Wings, for instance, built a 25 year run of excellence with the majority of it coming from the 1989 draft. But, they also went through several ups and downs and turned over the whole roster at least three times in that period. The Wings in 07-08, for instance... they drafted Datsyuk and Zetterberg with late picks (so very lucky and not a plan, really) and the remnants of the 1989 draft with Lidstrom still being there.

They also built out a good chunk of that roster from the FA pool and the trade market. They got guys like Cleary as a reclamation project, Hasek through a trade, Osgood as a memorial to the past FA signing, Rafalski through FA, Stuart through trade.

The question is that you can't expect to have 36 picks like Arizona does and voila, you get a competitor out of it. It's a good start to a plan, but honestly, you're probably going to get 3-4 pieces of anything more than average quality out of those 36 picks. I'm thinking that is about as rosy a percentage chance as they have.

Arizona must be hoping that there's going to be another round of bad contracts and picks going their way. Not necessarily a bad thing mind you.

Still too much term left for the Coyotes, and too much money, plus he has a 5 team trade list. The Jets aren't getting out of that contract. Not from Ari at least.

Sending positive vibes your way. Shane Wright and Austin Matthews down the middle would look good in three years.
Matthews is a dream.

The team will have a real shot at drafting top 4 both in 2022 and 2023. That means they WILL get one of Wright/Savoie/Kemmel/Cooley...AND one of Bedard/Mischka/Yager/Fantilli.

Keep taking on undesirable deals for picks. Add a free agent or two that fits with what they want to do going forward. Take it slow and steady and develop drafted talent.
