Arizona Coyotes Lounge XXV

Had to report once to the Superior Court and once to Municipal Court. Made it to the final cut of the Superior Court. Defense made a critical error in striking me. Held my tongue and danced around the prosecutors questions and did not blurt out I supported jury nullification and it was the defense that screwed his client.

I was a victim of a drunk driver and still got put on an extreme DUI case.

The best one was when they started automating it. I called in the morning - it said you're not in the AM group, call later for the PM groups. Called again at noon - it said you're done and you get credit.

So I essentially got paid (company paid for jury duty time off) to go to a spring training game, where Dan Patrick happened to be doing a live remote for ESPN. Circa 2006.

I hit it off with a girl while we were both going through the jury selection process, neither of us got selected but ended up having a fun summer with her that year. Best jury duty ever! haha
Had a similar random encounter on a connecting flight from St Louis to Orlando. Hit it off in the gate area and lo and behold we were seated window and aisle in the same row, with the middle empty. And she was on her way to return her ring to her ex-fiance. Gave me a reason to later visit Des Moines, of all places. Random is the best. (Fun aside, 10 years prior she'd worked at Hooters #1 in Clearwater)

I was in a jury pool once, I sat next to the then chairman of the AZ Medical Board. I learned more about the politics of medicine in one afternoon than in my entire career. We discussed the case of a family practitioner in Mesa who got absolutely pilloried in the press, front page, for not accepting in his office a Spanish speaking girl who came in w/o an appointment. The girl later died of a ruptured appendicitis.
The doctor was publicly accused of racism and some prominent Hispanic group complained to the Board. It turns out that the office was open for the nurses to give allergy shots only, and the doctor was in Vegas at the time. He had all his receipts to prove it. The complaint was found to be baseless, but that fact never made it to the front page of the AZ Republic. It was buried deep in the paper.

Anyone been to Sloan Park?

I went once, but can't remember:

Do people bring folding chairs or blankets to the berm?

Throw it in the trash.
I normally do because I get them every 2 to 3 years. Just like my red light tickets. Straight to the trash can. For some reason I responded to this because it was federal and I got two notices within a week of each other. It's too late. I regret filling out the survey.

I’d have caved under those circumstances too. You might be a wimp but you’re not alone. Lol.

Geez spring training games at Sloan Park are expensive. I'm hearing it's like that at spring training games in Florida as well.
