Arizona Coyotes Lounge XXV

I remember Dahl had a contest where he would be a prom date and the winner could have a friend go with Gary Meyer. The girl that won wanted to go with Gaary and have her friend go with Dahl. It ticked off Dahl, he said some not nice things and the girls dad wouldn't let her go after that. There was a recording on air of the dad saying "I wouldn't let my daughter go to prom with you for all the tea in china buddy". They were popular DJs back then.....
His morning show on WDAI (?), some hated all his character’s, I got a kick out of them, was 15 yr old at the time and beating the crap out of the Naperville Sabres - Chris Carlson, Pete Moser etc.. Did you happen to know any of those guys?
Sabres org had such a backward cronyism that some of Napervilles best played for us, guys like goalie Greg Turlip, forwards Jeff Nelson & Todd Channel, defensemen Tim Zahn.
There was some sweet hatred between the two org’s!

Don't recall those names, might be younger then me, I was born in 63, I knew Granato and frank Provazano.

We didn't have those, but we did have the "here's what those 'Fallout Shelter' signs all around mean", and being told we were rather high on the list of targets due to our proximity to the Kennedy Space Center.

We had just one..... at the high school under the auditorium. Yep.... it was stocked too.

But in a town of 6,000 it only held about 60 people. Can't imagine how that would have worked out.

Ima 63 also, played against Granato and Hull, who both played for Elmhust Huskies AAA at one point - good team!
Only other Naperville name I can come up with is Ted Stone? He played with Minor Hawks.
I worked for Colonial Catering for a few months when I was around 16/17, their facilities were right downtown (Naperville). IIRC
Anuway, maybe not as small a world as it often seems…. In this case.

Yes...there's suspense, drama, intrigue, etc. I'm also not a big fan of Dicaprio or Scorsese, so that might be part of it. But, then again, I did really like Shutter Island.
The wife hated shutter island, I thought it was very good, in a freaky sorta way.
Flowers of the Harvest Moon was even better at second viewing, in both our opinions. I’ll admit though that having lived there makes it different for us than the average viewer. Although I find it suspenseful and dramatic. I think what one may consider drawn out actually increases the ability to sense the reality of the situation. It was filmed predominantly in Pawhuska Oklahoma USA, even though the movie plays it off as being in Fairfax.
The attention to detail and accuracy was outstanding. We also have a very good friend, Native American, Gulf War Vet., that worked for the FBI, before having to retire due to illness born of toxins from the Gulf War.

Anybody else going to the AZ D1 HS Hockey championships at Mullett next Sunday? I’m taking my wife and our two boys, and a boy from church. Meeting up with a couple of guys I coach mites with and their families, too.

Somebody explain the green Jello-O reference - it went zoom over my head.:help:

It used to be a stereotypical Utah Mormon thing - when they got together for activities, they'd do potluck, and invariably someone would bring green Jell-O and carrots. In recent times, the Jell-O has turned into "pastel," which is Jell-O mixed with Dream Whip. But for those in the know, the green Jell-O is still a winking reference to Utah culture.
