Congrats Arizona on your new top pairing Defenseman. Not even joking. He was our best dman last year, which isn’t saying anything. His defensive woes are wildly incorrect. He has a fantastic active stick, good instincts, and is very effective at getting the puck out of the zone. I’m so mad right now.
Pretty much what I saw to. I never understood shitting on him for some of the defensive hacks when he offensively went to make a play. The only times I saw him have mistakes is when he moved up on the breakout to push the offense. You gotta pair a defensive dman with him to utilize his skill.

I think you're just bitter. Most folks were left scratching their heads when the Flyers selected Morin 11th OA. Most folks also wonder why Hagg even plays in the NHL at all. I honestly never heard anyone praise him, quite the opposite actually. Ghost was hyped big time. I'd argue about 100% of us were wrong about him, yourself included. Provorov and Sanheim are about where they should be in their development.

So nah, the hype isn't gone, two of them are in the starting 4 and Ghost was overhyped by everyone. No one else was hyped up like you're suggesting.
Nah your remembering things wrong

Morin was heavily discussed after being drafted and was expected to become a top 4 guy who was nasty to play against

Myers was another player who had a great ceiling and his skating was raved about. People routinely thought he'd be on the flyers top pairing shortly

My point was basically it's really hard for young defenseman to live up to the potential and expectations fanbases have for them

Pens had the same thing occur with Pouliot, Depres, Morrow, Mantaa

Very few teams find their young hyped defenseman live up to the expectations.

Avs probably are one of those teams that will with Makar/Byram/Girard/Timmins likely to be top 4 guys atleast for the next decade

Flyers still have a good defense due to Provorov being a good player and Sanheim being a solid 2nd pairing option. They had to turn towards proven players however like Ellis and Niskanen (before he retired) as young defenseman are too unreliable jn lost cases

That's what is worrisome to me. With that space, who is the target? The Flyers were not in Tampa territory. Ghost didn't HAVE to go, so Fletcher clearly is targeting somebody for next week.

My gut tells me Flyers trade Voracek and picks, retain 50%.

Then go after Tarasenko.

He would be harshly punished for mistakes that other defenders make routinely without providing any of the offense he does.

This is actually awesome for Arizona. They're building a really exciting young core and Ghost fits right in with that. Him and Chychrun are going to create a lot of offense from that blueline.

This makes me sad...

Might not be logical but Ghost was home grown and part of the identity of that team. I'm glad he's getting a fresh start, I'll enjoy seeing him in the Kachina, but I'm bummed.

Ahhh, Arizona...where players and their contract go for future considerations.

So we have Ladd ,and a bunch of picks being traded to them for um...NOTHING, literally nothing.

Shayne Gostisbehere, a 2022 2nd round pick, and a 2022 7th (STL)
For um...Future Considerations [aka NOTHING]

Hell of a league you got there Gary.

The Flyers need 4.5 million in cap space a hell of a lot more than a 2nd round pick that may or may not even be in the NHL in four years. Good move for Arizona though to get a pick to take on that contract for two years. *MOD EDIT*
