Ghost very clearly has big negative value in the league. He got passed thru waivers, got passed thru the expansion draft, and obv we saw what happened today.

however, there was no real reason to just dump him at the price it cost. I know they have a couple players to sign, but they're not all that up against compared to other teams. I could understand a 4th or a 5th, but a 2nd is ridiculous.

For the third time.

because Fletcher is f***ing moronic. Doesn’t make what he did right.

One could argue that the "truth" here is what actually happened. Everything else is fan perception and opinion.

It obviously means they have other moves to make, and Ghost's contract was a hindrance.

He would be harshly punished for mistakes that other defenders make routinely without providing any of the offense he does.
It was the same as Yandle when he was here. They are good at pinching and pushing the play to the boards on the back check, but they arnt going to clear your net or have the same mind set as a pure defensive minded guy.

I'll take the gifted offensive dman whos also great on the pp whos paired with a stay at home guy all day.

The flyers young hyped defense from back in 2014-2016 days is basically gone

Morin is a bust
Ghost fell off due to injuries and is a cap dump
Myers moved out (though got Ellis which is a good trade)
Hagg sucks

Luckily for them Provorov and Sanheim are good 1st and 2nd pairing options and they have York + that guy with first name starting with Z who are quite good

JULY 2014 pic.......You ain't kidding :(:(:(....besides Sanheim

So Bill Armstrong was hired as the Coyotes GM last September. He was handed a losing team with no draft picks.

He traded Stephan for a 2nd and Hill for a 2nd. Then got paid two 2nd rounders for taking on Ladd, and now another 2nd rounder for taking Ghost.

That's 5 2nd rounders added. And the player personnel change is only.

Out: Stephan, Hill
In: Ladd, Gostisbehere

Give this guy some credit. He stocked the cupboard quickly since being hired, and the team isn't much worse.

Because Ron should've told the Flyers "I'll take Ghost for Twarynsky + 2nd."
Instead, Arizona gets the free 2nd.

a 2nd round pick for 2 x 4.5 is exactly how you weaponize cap space.
I agree. Arizona is getting the picks SK should be getting, and good for them. They had none, because they forfeited them. But now they have a whole bunch.

I’ve said it once. Just because Fletcher is f***ing stupid. Doesn’t mean Ghost is a cap dump.

Let me get this straight. Flyers had all these trade deals to trade Ghost for good value but Fletcher is so stupid that he instead paid Arizona some draft picks to take the player? Is that what you are saying?

Ghost is a cap dump seen how he just got dumped for cap space, with a pretty substantial sweeter, too.

He shouldn’t of traded Ghost. He was far from the issue. That’s the point.

Nah your remembering things wrong

Morin was heavily discussed after being drafted and was expected to become a top 4 guy who was nasty to play against

Myers was another player who had a great ceiling and his skating was raved about. People routinely thought he'd be on the flyers top pairing shortly

My point was basically it's really hard for young defenseman to live up to the potential and expectations fanbases have for them

Pens had the same thing occur with Pouliot, Depres, Morrow, Mantaa

Very few teams find their young hyped defenseman live up to the expectations.

Avs probably are one of those teams that will with Makar/Byram/Girard/Timmins likely to be top 4 guys atleast for the next decade

Flyers still have a good defense due to Provorov being a good player and Sanheim being a solid 2nd pairing option. They had to turn towards proven players however like Ellis and Niskanen (before he retired) as young defenseman are too unreliable jn lost cases

No no, you're remembering things wrong. They called Morin a reach at 11th. He was projected to be fringe 1st/2nd round pick. His size is what had him compared to Pronger, and his size alone. His skill was always questionable and if he made into the Flyers top 4, the pick wouldn't be regrettable.

Myers hype was mostly because he's undrafted, serviceable at the NHL level, right handed shot and a 6'5". If he's left handed and 3" shorter, the Flyers aren't getting Ellis, at least not with Myers as a chip.

Ghost is the only one who let us down so your story arc needs a little work, bud
