It was always about health, especially with Murray.
I understand what Dubas was trying to do picking up Murray and moving on from Campbell. I don't care what the supposition has been, you don't win two Cups in net without playing a key role. His calmness and pedigree are respected by his team. I'm not sure I liked the risk, but we only have a birds eye view.
I've always felt that Martin Brodeur had the perfect disposition for a goalie, a balance of quiet, fierce competitveness and calm confidece that allowed his team to just play their game. I'm not sure Campbell was ever going to get there, they played hard for him like someone would for their younger brother, or the nice guy picked last in a road hockey game (who can also play well at times obviously).
With Murray, it's a case of, "just focus on doing your job, I've got this". Dubas gambled his job on Murrays health (and Samsonov to a lesser degree). If it doesn't work out, he knows the risks. When he's healthy, his demeanour is Brodeur like.
If he stays healthy, he will come through. Dubas then just has to come through for everyone at the deadline.
