Are we going to be scary?

I think those players have retired? Maybe track them down in old folks homes in 2060

Ah! They represented the logo, and the logo is still there. The history between the two teams transcends the players. The Habs must get back at the Bruins for that.

Time spent on revenge is never wasted.

i dont think we are scary in terms of physical play yet. But the habs are trying to shed the smallish speedy team steryotype we have had for 2 decades.

I think we are getting a clear picture of what hughes sees can win a championship. Big boddies that can play a long season. Sprinkled with some skills. Worth a shot. I am getting a LA kings 2012's vibe. Wont have the skills to win the president trophy but built to run deep in the playoffs.
I question the 'speedy' portion of the 'smallish speedy stereotype we have had for 2 decades' characterization.

Eddy, Guhle and Xhekaj make the LD pretty scary. Jandy is also a legit power forward, but only seems to play like one when he's in the mood.

The rest, meh. Mailloux seems to be the kind of guy that thinks he's tougher than he is. Dach's got big man reach, but isn't particularly physical, and I don't really see Slaf as much of a punishing hitter. He uses his size as part of his offensive and possession game, but isn't really a wrecking ball. I've seen some footage of him throwing hits, and he has a lot to learn in that regard.

Emil Heineman will be a scarier physical presence than most of the guys listed.

Scary? No.

Able to play any type of game? I believe so.

Scary is a horrible word or choice. They will be coming in with a long off season to train and with some new players that made our team better. Less expectations and pressure and a free roaming structure where offensive players can be creative without having dum dum dwell on their mistakes and demoting them.

Price is a factor. A healthy Price playing 40-50 games can turn the needle to some degree.

Suzuki, Caufield, and others one year older.

Byron, Dadonov, Drouin in contract years.

Gallagher rebound? I'm sure he will but how much? Not sure.

Eddy for a full season.

I'd say we end up with a bottom 8-12 finish. If we finish lower, there are more negatives that some are willing to admit. If we finish higher, several players have career years or one of their best.

Man, when you take a stance, you take a stance. I respect it but not so sure why you are low on him. Or are you being sarcastic?
His choice of words may be hyperbolic, but he's not wrong. Dach doesn't really have a physical game, and is also a beanpole.

Good teams can do the "we can play any game" thing because they have point producers who know how to use their body. Speaking about the likes of Tampa and Colorado specifically.

Success on the ice is predicated upon reliable, independent goal scoring. It'll be fun to see some Habs throw big hits though, that's for sure.

Improving the PP from bottom 5 to mid pack turns the needle more than some will admit. I'm not going to hold my breath that our PP will be better though.

Not a real physical type yes but his size, skating, and leverage will limit others from pushing him around. The physical style of play usually comes when they are mature and filled into their frame. That's usually in the 23-30 years.

But can they fight?

Anderson and Eddy can. Savard if needed. Pezzetta as well.

At 196 lbs, you're easier to push around if you're 6'4" than if you're 5'10".

But that's beside the point, really. There's nothing "scary" about Dach. In the same way there's nothing "scary" about 6'5", 235 lbs Anthony Mantha.

I didn't say he was scary though. But he's not going to get pushed around cause he don't play a in your face physical game. This is not KK

Anyone else excited about the size of our young prospects, coupled with their decent skating ability? We are building a huge team.

Xhekaj, Slaf, Dach - 6'4
Mailloux, Anderson - 6'3
Barron, Guhle - 6'2

All of these guys are on the team, or will be soon. These players with their size and skating ability will be hard on other teams and create space for our smaller skilled guys.

I love what we are building
Scary bad maybe. All of these guys are unknowns besides Anderson.

No, hes actually a soft player.

Loved him in his draft year, hes super skilled and I rated him around what KK was, and every body knows I love KK.

I think theres still potential and hes an exciting player but its a hell of a gamble. The type of gamble that Bergevin would take and would get absolutely roasted for.

I didn't say he was scary though. But he's not going to get pushed around cause he don't play a in your face physical game. This is not KK
Funny because KK is actually boatloads more physical lol

In today's game that is as relevant as asking if they can sing and dance.

False. The ability to answer the bell will always be valuable.

Now the goon show is over, but fighting remains a way to switch momentum or impose limits and respect in wild games.
