No, hes actually a soft player.

Loved him in his draft year, hes super skilled and I rated him around what KK was, and every body knows I love KK.

I think theres still potential and hes an exciting player but its a hell of a gamble. The type of gamble that Bergevin would take and would get absolutely roasted for.

Funny because KK is actually boatloads more physical lol

I don't really care about being physical like KK. I value puck battles and coming out of scrums with the puck by using leverage, lower body strength and skating. It's going to take time for Dach to fill into the frame and be a NHL matured type.

Sounds like your trying to deflate Dach's physical game to Drouin levels.

People are in for a surprise with Dach - dude is soft as f***.

He's not soft as f***. He's not physical or mean.

Prince Albert tried to see how soft Dach was by cheap-shotting him every shift and getting as physical as they could with him. They still couldn't contain him and he didn't wilt at all.

Soft is Drouin who won't do a f***ing thing if it means someone might bump him.

It's only for the ones who look at Dach and think his value is his size. Playing against players his own age and you see the force he is with his body leverage, skill, and skating.

Against the NHL? It's going to take time to see the same value from what it was at the WJC and CHL. Not many can come in like Tkachuk and dominate physically out of the gate.

Where he can use his size is his leverage and skating. Improve lower body strength so he can exit traffic with the puck.

What I hope is that HuGo find a Milan Lucic in the next two drafts. Someone who can play on a 2nd or 3rd line, fight heavyweights, and be very aggressive with his physical play and attitude.

People hated him but I always thought Lucic was underrated in his prime. Unique player.

I know you're high on Dach - I just don't see it. In fact, if he doesn't pull it together to become a 2C I see more of a future for a guy like Owen Beck as a 3C than I do for Dach. Anyway, this year is a key one for Dach. I hope he succeeds, but my expectations are low.

Agreed. I wish people would avoid exaggeration on both ends of the scale. Yeah he don't play a power center game like Hayes but give the kid a break. His size is the added bonus on top of of his skating and skill.

All I see is posters creating narratives that because he is not a physical force (in your face type), he is soft. Come on man... there is something called in the middle.

Yeah, I wish Dach was a "in the middle" type of player lmao

To be fair he wasnt as soft in the WHL, with the Hawks he was 100%.

Being High vs being very Low on him. You can criticize both sides for trying to create absolute type narratives.

The key here is hunger to improve. With the Habs, he will get mentored by MSL and it will be up to him on putting in the hard work and bringing it game/game.

Confidence comes with momentum and opportunity. Maturity comes with age and time to adjust playing against men.

In the WHL, he's playing against players around his age. In the NHL, it's top notch quality and it's not easy for 18-21 year olds playing against matured men who are much stronger. That can change your game sometimes.

It's not his style to be in your face physically. But once he matures, he can use his body and leverage with edge work better. Like it was in the WHL. Do we want him to work on his shot, skating, and skill or do we want him to work on being more physical? Think about that

All he needs to do is look at Suzuki's lower body strength. That should give him an idea on what he needs to work at and how he can excel in tight spaces and along the boards.

Everyone expecting Slafkovsky to be some sort of goon may be disappointed. From everything I've seen and heard about him he has some toughness in him but he mostly uses his man strength to protect the puck not to go after players.

We have two defensemen in the pipelines who are big, mean hitters - Xhekaj and Mailloux, both of who are still projects. Guhle has that to a degree.

Dach is not a tough player at all but more uses his size for puck possession - which would be an even bigger boost if he can put it all together.

Anderson will hopefully be traded for picks or prospects before he's broken down completely.

Just a second, you’re saying that arguably the best hitter in junior hockey right now has “that to a degree”? Guhle is a monster, makes Romanov look like puffed wheat coming at you. Not much of a fighter, but way more effective in todays hockey. I’d take Guhle’s physical play over Mailloux any day.

Nobody in their right mind gets scared when they hear "Joel Edmundson ". Hes the 2nd coming of Gill.
Maybe you missed our last playoff run ? He was the most physical D on our squad. Much more mean and nasty than Chiarot and Weber.

Anyone else excited about the size of our young prospects, coupled with their decent skating ability? We are building a huge team.

Xhekaj, Slaf, Dach - 6'4
Mailloux, Anderson - 6'3
Barron, Guhle - 6'2

All of these guys are on the team, or will be soon. These players with their size and skating ability will be hard on other teams and create space for our smaller skilled guys.

I love what we are building

Probably less scary than a 2 on 0 with Suzuki and Caufield.

That said, given how much the Leafs complain about being knocked around, they’ll probably be less than pleased having to line up against Slaf, Dach and Anderson.

The main thing for the big guys is they use their size to go to the net and to fight for the puck as well as keep possession of it. They do that kind of physical play we are good, with hits being a bonus.

Smothering people with your lanky extremities isnt being physical. And nah, that last part is cap, as 2022 draftees would say.
Maybe your avatar is an indication of something ? Forgot to put on these glasses ? :)
See it your way if you like, I have a different perspective

You're describing Tuch, he's already in the system.

not anymore as he said he wanted to change his game after the injury in the 1st half, he came back and was just focused on playing hockey, saying it takes a lot of energy to run around hitting players. I think it's bad advice but we'll see.

Does he gets into many fights? Haven't followed him at all.

No, there's no fighting in the NCAA, if you do it's an auto 1 game so it's very rare.
