Myers simply isn't a 3-4 pairing d-man. The only guy who thought so was Jimbo, who got him from the Jets and then gave him a ridiculous $6m contract for six years.Honestly Myers at 3 isnt bad if hes #4 at best, hes more of a #5 but he definitely cannot carry a line by himself
But in his previous stops in Buffalo and Winnipeg, every time they tried to move him up in the defensive pairings, it basically flopped. So it's hardly a shock that at 34, he can't carry a top four defensive pairing with the Canucks. Last night he was far and away the CORSI chump.
So the Canucks could blow the wad and acquire another rental. But flushing draft picks for d-men who can get you through another season, isn't a long term solution.
They're probably going to have to wait on D-Petey and Wilander--their 3-4 pairing of the future.
