not at all, the Canucks are just not a good team. Quinn Hughes crying on the bench in the 2nd period was classic.

The game was over by the end of the first period, I don't blame them that they stopped playing considering how shit the leafs are

Hughes upset because he ss the captain expects more and has standards, can't say the same about your gutless captain

The thread title asks if the Leafs are a Stanley Cup contender. A contender is solid right through its lineup and lesser teams should be an easy win. You guys spent all the money on 4 forwards that are good at scoring goals and putting up points but defense and goaltending are a weakness. That isn't a contender for the cup.
100% agree

Quinn Hughes having that hissy fit, crying was gutless. Yet, you take a shot at an aging Tavares. We know he is not good now, you are not saying anything we don’t know.

He was upset because the Canucks weren't playing well. So he lit a fire under their asses and they played better and won the game.

What did your Captain do when your team wasn't playing well?

Tavares did nothing. Nothing at all. You think you are telling us anything we don’t know about him? He is bad, we get it.

Likely the worst constructed I have ever seen.
Below average goaltending.
Weak defence
Offence is good but their backchecking skills are lazy

I don’t get all the talk that the Canucks just won because of their goalie.
First, the Leafs D was also bad.
And second, Demko is one of the Canucks star players you’d expect him to be better than one of the worst goalies historically the last few years.
It’s not exactly earth shattering that having good goaltending is an advantage. The Canucks drafted and developed Demko and are now reaping the benefits. It’s not a fluke that this gives them an advantage over teams with poor goaltending. It’s no different than when Matthews helps win games for the Leafs.

He’s not going to stick around in an environment like that for a season and a half just to not play hockey for another team, that he gets to choose anyway
Of course he will stick around. It's a pretty tough trade to pull off at the best of times with his salary.

He will most likely stay and get another monster contract. He now has Nylander's contract as a compareae. Marner is better than him every year except the one where Nylander needs a new contract. Marner will put up some big stats next year and the Leafs will let him write his own contract.

In the unlikely chance they let him go they will assainate him in the media and blame 9 years of playoff futility on him because that's what the Leafs do.

Why don't they fire Keefe and hire Berube?
Berube would break some of the Leafs players. You'd have to have mental health professionals on call 24/7.

Be kinder and less harsh to toss a pack of newly born lambs into a lion pit.

Okay just checking.

Because it sounded like you were calling out Hughes for doing something wrong there.

Outside of the top guys, their depth is almost non existent:
Bertuzzi - 1 goal in last 25
Kampf - 1 goal in last 19
Gregor - 1 goal in last 19
Knies - 1 goal in last 16
Domi - 1 goal in last 14
Tavares - 1 goal in last 11

Does that look like a playoff contender?
Not at all. Leafs Bubble team

Nope. It doesn’t.

And some of their depth guys they could move at the deadline have NMCs and NTCs. Just disaster.

I figured Marner/Matthews/Nylander would eventually figure it out, but with each passing season it seems less and less likely.
Did you see their AAV number? Of course, they figure it out. The issue is do MLSE and Shanny figure it out? Maybe, we are the ones not figuring it out.
