Speculation: Are The Devils Interested In Quinn Hughes?

Perhaps, Vancouver can acquire Hughes to complement the Hughes' brothers just as they did for the Sedin twins.

I think it would be too expensive to send Jack & Luke over to Nucks.

Would make more sense to wait until Quinn’s contract runs out and bring him to NJ. Or wait until he starts to fall off when he’s older or something so value is lower.

Regardless this happening in the next few years is unlikely imo. Both teams would have to give too much up to satisfy the other in getting rid of their Hughes

Yes, I was hoping too much.

I know it's unrealistic, because prices of each of them are very, very high.

Cost would be prohibitive because of the unique situation New Jersey would be trying to pull off.

But to the same point if you’re Vancouver and you know with less than two years left in his deal that Quinn is ticketed to NJ as a UFA, you probably would try to get something out of him.

Until it gets closer to Quinn’s UFA status, this will never happen. Devils would also need to be a consistent playoff team for this to happen as well.

EP40 + Demko would be a solid base for a Jack Hughes trade. Probably needs one more piece coming back.

Would be solid for VAN but for us? Turning Hughes into lesser assets could literally kill the rebuild.

Basically you gamble that Pettersson would bounce back to the rookie/sophomore level of the production and Demko turns into the star. With the volatility of goalies, I don't see point in taking this risk, Hughes is the real franchise center.

Demko is a star. From a this kings fan.

Not saying the devils should consider that deal, but Demko is so good.

Demko already is a star, it's EP that's the question mark. Jack has 6 more points than him in 20 fewer games this year, is younger and locked up for more years. Hischier is also outproducing EP in fewer games played.

Which is why I said it's a nice base but would still need another quality piece coming back to consider it. Ideally a top-6 scoring winger.

I see people are still sleeping on Q Hughes defensive side of his game.

As for getting the brothers together, I think if this was ever to become reality it will come down to the following:

1. How competitive is NJ vs Van in 5 years
2. Which city would be more desirable to live in for them

I also think this would come down to free agency and not through trade. If Quinn signs an extension in 5 years as 27 yr old then i think there's a chance J hughes thinks long and hard about his free agency year which would be 2-3 yrs later.

They are going to have their hands full with 2 Hughes on the team and Daddy Hughes pushing Fitz buttons. I think 3 would be a BIG mistake.

From NJ this is an easy no. Jack Hughes might be one of the most untouchable assets in the league right now. Dude is 20 and pacing at 1.13 ppg. What makes him untouchable is that he is locked up at 8 years for 8 million. This will end up being one of the greatest contracts in the NHL. Not only that, but we got his younger brother about to come up to the team. I really don't think there is even an overpayment that exists at this point that would get Hughes. His talent is very rare.
