Is this better or wurst?
Well then we definitely aren't going to be able to walk away.Apparently we're not allowed to walk away unless it's over $4.5 million or something? I forgot what the number was.
also i’m sure this is coming from Bratt’s agent, but i think considering their own filing at the hearing was so low, it’s clear Fitz’s long term contract offer went no higher than 6m, maybe was more like 5 and change.
Please educate me, lad. If they actually went to arbitration, they couldn’t negotiate a long term extension before 1/1/23. But since they avoided it, they can sign him 8x8 today if they would like and have it kick in next year.
Is this correct?
As always, I must warn you that me thinking I know how this stuff works has blown up in my face before.
That said, I’m pretty sure if it’s a one year deal you can’t extend it until Jan 1st.
You think maybe there was some "under the table handshake / verbal agreement" going on here with him and Fitz?Bratt seems happy lol, just did an IG story. That doesn’t seem like a guy with bad blood to me.
That was a decision Fitz made. Fitz made clear it was the Devils that insisted on 8 years. A contract a C signs while on his ELC has no bearing on a wing signing after 2 years of playing as an RFA. Bratt should be looking at comps like Buchnevich, Fiala, etc.Fitz was willing to pay up for Jack before he really had any significant production (Obviously he was a 1st overall, but he wasn't an out-of-the-box star). Bratt has a lot more of a track record behind him. Maybe Fitz is willing to give him a big-time contract after "one more" year of production. Or maybe he just doesn't value Bratt as highly as we do.

Fiala was pretty close to an $8M AAV. If Fitz was offering close to $8M long-term, there probably would've been a contract signed. That was a decision Fitz made. Bratt's future quotes:
"We're just happy we ironed out a deal before arbitration"
"It's never an easy process"
"We'll continue to talk throughout the season"
"I'm just focusing on preparing"
I'm talking about Bratt's camp. If their highball offer was only 6.5m, for one year of restricted free agency of one of the best wingers in the league, it's clear that the offer that came from Fitz was not remotely close to what Bratt deserves.Their filing wasn’t low. It was for one year of restricted free agency. RFA years are cheaper than UFA years and short term rfa deals that don’t take any ufa years are lower in value than deals that do eat ufa years.
Fiala only had 1 RFA year left and here are the counting stats over the last 3 years as compared to BrattFiala was pretty close to an $8M AAV. If Fitz was offering close to $8M long-term, there probably would've been a contract signed.
Said by who? Fitz?It was said the offer was "significant". I doubt that's in the 5s. It was likely in the 6s. Being willing to take 6.5 for one year and being willing to take 6.5 for 7 or 8 years at 24 years old are WILDLY different things.
TG is late to the party
I think Fitz prob wanted more term with less $$. So, $6.5 x 8 years or something.I'm talking about Bratt's camp. I see all these posts about 7x8 and 8x8 and I'd bet it was something more like 5x6.
I don't have Evolving Hockey's premium tier for contract negotiations, but IIRC I saw it floating around that on a 7 or 8 year deal they had Bratt at about $7.3M.Fiala only had 1 RFA year left and here are the counting stats over the last 3 years as compared to Bratt

That still remains to be seen, Fitz.
Fixed.Bratt's agent is crazy. I was expecting him to get a deal done the night before the deadline.
Waiting until 1 minute before the deadline isambitiousstupid.
"some of you" is actually one person in particular who has called him every name in the book.It just feels like some of you are taking it way too personally. Like Jesper is saying “f*** this team, I don’t want to be here” rather than “I’m going to have another amazing year and then you’re going to pay me a ton of money to play hockey with these guys love”.
It’s not like he has some “home” he can go to like Parise did. Unless you actually think he just wants to go to a low tax state because he literally only cares about money.
