I love X but he's not going to succeed in the half assed system Marty has created.

X doesn't process the game at the elite level nor the skating that one needs for martys tight zone defense. And Marty is not smart enough to create a system around the majority of players.

The biggest issue of all, does Hughes know what to do to fix this?
I truly believe Hughes and probably Gorton are professionally aware of the teams current miscues, personal questions & overall coaching decisions. HuGo have the obvious IR list as a natural excuse. Pro’s however will not sugar coat this current debacle in private or in their war room.

MLS could use a little tough love from his peers however he will be given a long leash.

Lol, ok. Maybe it does qualify you but I doubt without a lil more on the CV. Armchair are so comfy.
Are u suggesting your perspective and understanding of the game is on par with MSL?
No, I’m saying his inexperience is painfully obvious and if they were going to go with him they should have surrounded him with an experienced staff.

I’m saying, as a head coach he isn’t very good. Team is unorganized, lethargic, and has no clue what to do when they don’t have the puck.

Have you seen how this team plays??? A beer league team plays with more structure, lol.

If Ducharme was behind the bench with this team and they were playing like that I gaurentee you the MSL supporters would be calling for his head, 100%, and rightfully so.

If things get worse (and they are already pretty bad), I could see HuGo replace MSL by Pascal Vincent to finish this season. Best option would be Tourigny in Utah, But it seems the management and the players in Utah like him a lot.

all the coaches are rookies , i mean there is 0 experience behind the benches , its clear that our veterans also are not really great veterans , Anderson , Dvorak etc , not really great models. Far from Weber , Markov etc
Who traded Lehkonen, Toffoli, Edmundson, Petry ??? Who hired these green coaches ?

if they keep playing like headless chicken on the ice , no

Yep, especially after they tried to sell the in the mix nonsense. The pressure will mount, Hugo & co know a rebuild can go wrong really fast.

Even some of the media who have been his biggest fan boys are starting to question his “concepts”

Mls took a break sometime last year.

Alex burrows left because north shore was too far to get to south shore.

Alain Vigneault should be the next coach

Arber not smart defensively but team needs his toughness. What faint hope we had for this season is gone anyway. with the injuries. Play living daylights out of Arber. Give him ton experience for future, gain higher pick in June

So MSL gonna survive this whole coming season ?
They extended him last April right after the season ended while he had one season left to his contract. He's not going anywhere.

I think the best we can expect is a HuGo forcing an NHL vet coach behind the bench with him.

They gave Marty the term that basically says we trust you to develop and grow the young talent and you'll have this much time to prove you can also develop yourself and your staff to the point you can instill a system and culture that can effectively win games and compete in the playoffs.

He's gonna have Demidovs rookie season. After that, we will see.

In my opinion, it will depend of the players. Ducharme was also supposed to last the season according to Gorton, but he had no choice but to fire him like two weeks later after atrocious outings nights after nights by the team.

The vets have enough experience to know what coaching is, and if they think they are wasting their time with him, we will know soon enough if they want to back him or not.

Age, inexperience and injuries. It’s pretty simple. We have 4 defenders in their early 20’s in the lineup. Missing Laine. Blaming individuals isn’t going to accomplish much. If you want to be competitive under these circumstances, change to a more boring, defensive style and MAYBE you’re in more games. The problem with that is, I’m pretty sure they don’t have very many of that style of player. Changing the head coach won’t do squat.

Should Montgomery get canned from Boston, all eyes will be on him. He goes way back with Hughes and is a homeboy.

They all talk glowingly about him and all the insiders and talking heads around the league indicate that he is becoming a potential draw to Montreal
