Right but I don’t see the comparisons and the post I replied to made the comparison
Right, that was covered too.

Essentially it's a rough comparison. Hopefully Xhekaj can be effective at both ends of the ice, be physically dominant, and fight enforcers. Souray could do all those things. Chiarot couldn't. It's a rare breed that can. Who is your comparable?

I didn't say he could be chiarot. I said he could be an enhanced version of chiarot. His movements on the ice are reminiscent of ben, and while I think Ben had somewhat good instincts, he was limited by what his ability would allow him to do.

Arber can potentially connect the dots that Ben couldn't.

I don't know if I'd classify soura as effective on the defensive side. It depends on the situation. He had alot of trouble defending rush plays.

I’d rather Arber work on his game than his fighting technique. Let Laraque get sone recognition somewhere else.
He can do both. On his own terms. It’s an undeniable part of his game but it doesn’t need to be its most prominent.

I think we can all agree that he can hockey and that’s an exciting part to see evolve.

Arber’s list of comparables is growing by the week.

Only Slaf has more than he does.

Not sure what it means that we can’t have some kind of consensus — maybe he’s the collection of attributes from a variety of players.

Well not a lot, top prospects, no, Xhekaj was a hidden top prospect, saw Power play last night, he wasn't better than Xhekaj.
There are probably tons of hidden gems that go unnoticed. Xhekaj found his niche. Was lucky enough to get spotted and begin a career in hockey. Just because he keeps hitting bodies and throwing punches, it doesn't mean he's the next McDavid. I think fans in Montreal need to chill a bit.

Laraque can absolutely help Xhecaj as far as defense/prevention is concerned.
(And both guys are roughly the same size, so it's not a 6'4 240 men teaching a 5'11 190 men)
LaCraque didn’t really impress me with his fighting, Arber would level him.

I hope he'll be better offensively and defensively than Chiarot. He has much quicker hands than Chiarot. Plus, Chiarot wasn't a very good fighter. Souray was. That's why I lean morectowrd Souray than Chiarot. But ultimately it will depend on what level he gets to.
I'd go with enhanced Chiarot also. Souray was a below average defensive player. He was all power and presence, but he couldn't really defend. Not saying Chiarot was a star defensive D, but he could be counted on more then Souray. I hope JackEye can eventually match Chiarot's D play and mobility.

Pugilistic ability, I'm with you: Souray was the best we had before JackEye. Nobody wanted a piece of Sheldon. If it weren't for his bum wrist, he would taken all comers and came out on top more often then not.

And of course, Souray's shot is unmatched. It rivaled Weber's. So that's a whole other story. JackEye doesn't have that.

I think this is a good comparable; the enhanced being a better fighter and better offensive skills

It's not too late to edit or delete your post.

Laraque was Giga elite at defense. He got hit way, way less that your average facepuncher. Which is what you want when your face puncher also plays on your Top-4.

JackEye doesn’t need LaCraque’s help. He’s a man, he doesn’t need a jealous know it all giving him pointers. LaCraque was a huge disappointment here, he even avoided some fights.

I don't know why you're so adamant to show your lack of maturity.
George? Is that you? Bottom line is that LaCraque just wants to stick his two cents in, his fights were boringly defensive. Arber just attacks and is exciting, if he loses a fight one day then boo hoo.

Lucky? I don’t think so. This young man has many on ice qualities but none better than his skating. He’s always worked on his edge work & leg strength. Working at COSTCO allowed him to pay for training.
You can be big, you can fight, you can have a great hockey IQ…..however, if you can’t skate you don’t play. His skating is above average now and will improve with pro’s helping him in the show.
I’m excited to watch this young man grow with the Habs and if he remains a 3rd pairing D…what a find.
Cheers

I am not a fan of Beregvin and his minions but finding this kid, signing him was a great accomplishment.

Every other team found many gems in the past decade, we are so starved that when ever we get a player we are in shock. Bergevin didn’t accomplish anything, he did a bunch of random things with no plan and some of it worked. We are like a victim who is in the Stockholm syndrome affect. We deserve JackEye and many more for the torture we suffered under bargain bin.

If he remains a bottom pairing D, that is fine in my books. That's his upside, that's it.

Lol Laraque would demolish JackEye
I’m with you on this. BGL was a nuclear deterrent in the arms race. He and Chara set the standard for super heavyweights. Our boy X, in todays NHL, is everything you want….big, strong & nasty but with a transition game. He’s coachable, got a good first pass, skates well, has offence in his game and lots of room for improvement. I’d like to keep him away from some of veteran tuff guys, if only to keep his confidence rising. Plus we need him in the lineup. The hardest thing for a card carrying tuff guy to do is stay away from a challenge, lol.
Cheers

Doesn’t matter. Goons don’t exist in the game anymore anyways.
