congrats to him on earning a contract. Though now if Norlinder is sent back to Sweden the Habs will only be able to go to 48 contracts. Assuming Guhle goes back to the WHL, we would be at 47 contracts so not much room.

If you bend reality you can look at this as the Habs picking him in the 7th round in 2019 at 206th OA instead Ruscheinski. (runs for cover for bringing up he who shall not be named:popcorn::sarcasm:)

It is a way to think about it, though. Xhekaj over Ruscheinski (also runs for cover for bringing up he who shall not be named).

A big physical defenseman with the nickname AX, what's not to like?

Was he not eligible for the AHL?

Anyways, good for him. He didn't really give the habs a reason to cut him, but the numbers game was eventually going to come into play.

He is, but he didn't play at all last year due to Covid and Laval is loaded on D. It's much better for him to do an overage year in OHL and get a lot of playing time rather than being another part on an over crowded D unit in Laval.

All round good decision to sign him & send him to OHL. Gives us another good D prospect. Great find by Montreal.
