There is absolutely nothing on that team that I would want outside of Quinn if you consider contracts, etc. for this team.

The only way the 3 of them play together in Vancouver is if the Devils franchise folds and there is some sort of dispersal draft where the Canucks get the #1 and #2 picks.

That's an incredible amount of cope because its very clear that's not at all what JR meant.

He straight up said that money might not be enough to keep Quinn because he wants to play with his brothers.

If anything this is Rutherford already knowing Quinn is gone and trying to save face by making it seem like he never had a chance

I dunno, I feel like the quinn thing isn't much of anything. JR basically just said what everyone has been whispering for years. He gave it validity, but doesn't mean it'll actually happen. Still a ways away from it regardless

Because he’s literally better than all of the above and helps this team more than they do? They aren’t significant assests lol. Silayev is a prospect and has no room here with Quinn and Luke. Dougies money needs to be moved and Quinn is better. Nemec and Casey are meh. Mercer is meh. But they can hold some value.
Quinn helps this team become a cup contender.

This isn’t an overpayment in quality. Dougie and Silayev have the value here and the rest is quantity to add more for the eyes to make them feel like they’re full.

He literally publicly stated he wants to come to NJ (indirectly). No team other team is gunna bother to try to trade for him and his value will be quite low. There's no need to give anything.

We dont need Luke, Quinn and Casey in the same roster. We need to develop Casey as much as we can, sign him on the bridge and deal him in the best deal. May be use him as a big part of Larkin deal if Detroit is interesting(im not so sure, Yzerman loves big mobile two way guys).

Or just trade Casey for Quinn now when the iron is hot.

wellll, we don't need both of Casey and Nemec for sure, but I'd like to have Casey to balance out the offensive d-men and defensive d-men. With Silayev up and coming, and literally no one for RD, Casey is kind of a no brainer.

The funny thing about what Rutherford said is I'm pretty sure his intention wasn't to say, "oh yea, Quinn wants to go to NJ". Pretty sure his intent was to say he's gunna try to get Luke and Jack to Vancouver, which I'm not sure how he thinks is going to be possible.

If I was Devils' GM, I'd keep him on the roster until the official verdict (that way we'd still get his prime and would only get rid of him once he's officially guilty).

There’s no way “to keep him on the roster”, we didn’t qualify McRapey last off-season so he’s a UFA.

Trade more 1st rounders, trade Nemec/Casey, sign depth players in FA for more than they're worth. He set himself up for failure and he most likely will damage it more to save his job a little longer.

They have 0 foward prospects ready to step in other than Grits as of right now. Maybe Lenni as a long shot. They need an entire 3rd line, and 1 top 6 winger at least, preferably 2. Need to reinforce the center position quite a bit as well.

Fitz needs to start drafting better. Building half your roster from FA is not it.

I don’t see how we don’t trade either Nemec or Casey after re-signing Kovacevic.

If Rutherford was intentional in saying openly “Yea we want to trade for Jack and Luke to keep Quinn”, then yes that’s tampering.

Pretty much my untouchables list.

Remember - we weren't looking for Quinn Hughes before today. He wasn't necessarily in our plans. And he still might not be in our plans.

The other 2 guys i'd rather not trade, but I guess i would, our two Russians! Silayev and Yegorov. I guess I'd give up Silayev... Yegorov i think we need to keep. But I deal them if that's the ask.

I would like to save Gritsyuk and Meier too because it's better to not ruin offensive depth. Yegorov and Silayev would make a good things for other parts of the roster depth. But if someone is the price - I'll make it quick. Two cheap years of young defenseman who is one of the best offensive defenseman is something special.

If we are talking about balance, I would like to save Nemec, not Casey. But its me and mostly I don't care if van will ask for both, I would trade both.

If they will ask more - go give it to them. If they want Couple if houses in Chester - sell it. We can deal a couple of parking places near the prudential center. Or the most popular pizza stall. Tough to say but Bill Spaulding could be a part of the deal.

Okay. They can take Rogalski too but I guess it's will be retaining part.
