Exactly this. If he couldn't play tonight why would an extra day make him good to go. They are trying to write a Disney movie instead of winning playoff games.
Have to add... this has cost the AVs dearly. Is what happens when attempting to bend reality to fit alternative desired realities. Square peg round holing for 3 years.

This is no where near say a Willis Reed and the 1970 New York Knicks heroics type thing. Trying to make training camp in Oct 2025 is mebbe, mebbe a thing. April 2025... rub a lamp.

Wood had to jump over EJ which created the opening. WTF was EJ trying to do there? He goes down way too late to stop the shot.

Wood shouldn't take the blame for this shit.

Wood is trying to do too much here. He also turned the puck over on the zone entry for no reason to set this up.

Wood should poke at the puck once and then back off to stay in the slot and be in position to help out if EJ gets beat.

Instead he keeps going, and jumps over EJ's head, which makes EJ stay down instead of standing up to stay with his man, and Wood's momentum carries him out of the play into the corner.

Then Drouin just looks at the puck instead of poking at it, and Blackwood stays in the butterfly too long (probably because he got beat earlier standing up too fast), and leaves too much net to shoot at up top.

EJ, Wood, Drouin, and Blackwood are all equally to blame here. Wood more than the others IMO.

We've been through this shit before. Bednar does nothing to instill us with confidence. Our 2C is a problem yet again, and we can't finish our chances.

We also went through the entire league in 22' with the most dominant Cup win in decades. That should instill some confidence right? I remember people giving up on this team after one loss then too.

They were up in the third, and one goal away in OT from going up 2-0 in the series. I don't think there was an expectation to sweep the series or even the first two games was there?

I do agree Nelson hasn't been good enough and they've long had a problem with burying their chances though. Still I thought they were the better team again for 2/3 of the game.

Regroup, put Necas with Nelson, get our heart and soul captain back, and we go again.

There's absolutely NO WAY Landy can skate at the speed and intensity level displayed by tonights OT period. PERIOD.
What took me 2 posts, you said. Anyone who thinks Landy could skate in an entire NHL game, pre, regu or PO... is daft. Maybe, maybe he could aim for next training camp. Maybe.

As said prior... this has cost the AVs, this 3 year drama, dearly. In a lot of ways. One being it has turned Beds into a White House press secretary clone.

If there's anything positive to take away from this, it's that the Stars had to throw everything they had at us in the third period to claw out an OT win. It's going to be hard to sustain that level of desperation for the rest of the series.

That was extreme desperation hockey by them, to avoid losing both games on home ice, and going down 2-0. They know if they lose, they might get swept on the road.

Good looking out. Easy for everyone to short circuit when things could have gone differently.

To add to your list, Dallas has still only led for like 1:00 of ice time over two games so far

That's where my frustration is with the reactions. Two nights ago everyone was excited and ready for a deep run, then tonight after a close game its apparently time to set up tee times and fire everyone. I agree with the sentiment that Bednar needs to change up the top 6, but that's not why they lost either. They lost off of one play in OT where a mistake bit them. I thought outside of not mixing the lines Bednar did a good job adjusting after a rough 3rd period and they played better. It took a desperate effort for Dallas to get it to OT and we now have home ice to work with, along with the probable Lando boost.

This was never going to be a short or easy series. Even without Heiskanen and Robertson Dallas is still a really good team.

I don't believe Gabe is coming back this series. If he was, he should have tonight.

Much easier to get him the right matchups at home.

Also, regarding the pace others mentioned, the first 60 minutes weren't played at the OT pace.

If we get in a situation where he can't keep up with the pace, then you let him sit, and double shift someone like LOC or Lehky, the way you would if someone got injured.

It's worth the gamble from the motivational boost alone IMO.

I do hope in addition to Landeskog, we also see Malinski. In a situation where they control matchups it’s just dumb not to use him.

I dunno, I’m quite disappointed and angry after that loss. But I think I’ll just wait and see before making any further snap judgments. I won’t back off criticizing players and coaches but I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the best I can…emphasis on try.

Honestly I was way too stressed about this game long before the puck drop. I’m honestly too old to be THAT invested. If they don’t win here, so be it. They still gotta lose three more games before it’s over, and the next two are at home. If they fritter that away, changes will be coming.

I love the playoffs, just one game later and the world is ending feelings switch from one fan base to the other.

Wood's turnover was brutal.

Yeah, I agree with you, the whiplash is unreal

Wood's turnover at the blue line was bad, true, but it was a defendable situation against Dallas's fourth line at the end of their shift, it wasn't like a clear cut odd man rush given up to Dallas's top scorers

We lost a Game, still won home-ice and it still took Dallas to go full desperate to beat us in OT thanks to some dumb play from Wood and company....

And part of this board acts like we just lost a game 7.....

Cool down, this happens in the playoffs, to everyone....

We will be fine with home-ice, home-crowd and "air-support".....

Losing playoff games when you hold the lead entering the 3rd period is definitely not a recipe for success.
Game 5, Blues, 2022. Rest is history....

LA just blew a 4 goal lead....Yeah, they won, but this is not a recipe either....

It happens.....

I think Bednar should give younger players like Malinski a chance to play and gain experience if no better alternative is available. They should get better in the future. EJ shouldn't play every game.
