He definitely needs to pick the fights carefully. I think going against Reeves was calculated and will pay off in the long term. He already has a noticable reputation in the league after a season and a game. He probably won't be fighting plugs who are one week call ups. He's invested a lot to earn the respect warranted for people not to take liberties on young players on the Habs, meaning half the team lol. Honestly tho, there are probably only like 3-4 guys in the league that are worth fighting that can stand up to xhekaj. The rest would crap their pants if he went into their vacinity
He refused to fight a Sens player in the last preseason game if I'm not mistaken. He might have been told to cool it more with fighting.

So glad he's in our lineup. Been so long since we had a good tough player that can drop 'em against anybody and still play hockey.
I also liked Eddy on that front. He was fairly competent although not going there often, but when he did, he did well.

Xhekaj shouldn't fight clowns like Reaves either.

Anderson fought Lucic, Benn, Olivier, Borowieckie and Wilson and fared well against all. In fact, hes a better fighter tham Chiarot. Just always injured and turning soft because of injuries.
Ha also fought Chara and did well.

"Yes, he wants a rematch with Wi-Fi.

"We're playing them two more times." »

The latter would also have mentioned the fact that Xhekaj had initiated the fight by throwing himself at him and that he had not appreciated it.

“I don't like people jumping on me. I don't know if I've ever really jumped on someone. Do you want to fight? Ask me. »

It seems that the next clash between the two teams has become an unmissable event. However, we will have to wait until March 9 before these two teams cross paths again during this season.

He did the right thing.. Reaves is just being a stupid bitch because he didn't win the fight.

He threw a late hit and then hit Guhle from behind, all while Xhekaj was on the ice.. it was his intention to get a fight going by playing over the edge.

I'm not a big fan of fighting but I really hate staged fights, which I think should lead to delay of game penalties. What Arber did was to protect our future no 1 defenseman and was the good thing to do.

I love all fights and he did the right thing. We need more of that on our team. Protect your brothers at all costs and you will rise together to reach your ultimate goal.

“Jumped”

Lololololol

Run a young star defenseman from behind into the boards (which should have been a penalty) then throw the first punches before getting manhandled easily. You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes, Arber let him up and throw before punching himself. Reaves wanting to do a two minute striptease square off before he gets going is nonsense. Noticed you weren’t flexing after the fight Reaves… and your GM looked like he was going to cry, after being all giddy before.

Arber did the right thing, when you try to hurt a team mate, you don't ask for a fight lol, you just do it.

Great to have a big guy who can handle himself. But I like a big guy who can check heavy and play the game , the fighting is just a nice bonus.

The boy has a tool box that houses some decent looking tools for sure. Will be fun seeing what he can become over the next few years.

throwing a hit like that is asking for a fight. Expect to be jumped.
Leafs actually think they are "tough" now. Take enough runs on guys and dont be surprised that this comes back to haunt you. Leafs have been lucky in terms of injuries. #NotBroadStreetBullies #BraidStreet
Yeah really. When you board a guy look over your shoulder right away, it should be coming. And on the toughness they brought in Simmonds for that when they should have gone after the guy we got, Cory Perry.

he didn't jump him, he turned him around and responsed to his cheapshot hits. Reaves is an idiot. He should be in WWE if this is what he expects of his staged fights. He's embarrassed, that's why he's whining
I saw what he did to Ryan Graves a few years ago. Reaves got embarrassed and has to come up with excuses. If they square up can Reaves beat Arber? Maybe but he obviously got caught off guard by Arber's brute strength.

Edit- if Reaves didn't appreciate being "jumped" he still had 2 more periods of hockey to challenge Xhekaj. Xhekaj would have obliged.

Got to love it lol
394 pims and it still wouldn't set a record for most pims in a season.

Reaves is a 36 yo veteran “tough” guy. How does he not see that a comment like that only makes him look like a whiny bitch?

Look forward to the rematch when Wi-Fi destroys him again. Let’s see that the excuse is then.
Same way Mark Stone doesn't see his pre-season comments as being a bitch.

They both think it's some slick retort to end it, but just makes both of them look like cry babies.

Xhekaj is much more valuable than having to fight 4th line plugs.
The problem is that they know he will answer the bell if you run a teammate right in front of him.

Reaves knew by hitting Guhle that Xhekaj would step up.

I'm impressed with the progress Xhekaj the hockey player made over the summer. It didn't really show up at camp but his last couple of outings have been a
huge step in the right direction. Better decision making and less running after the big hit. I still can't say I know where this dude's ceiling is at.
