Laraque is up there as being one of the best fighter of all time. He was so dominant that he never lost a fight in something like 5 years. Lucic was afraid of him. People claiming that Laraque avoided fights are laughable. He did claim that he never enjoyed fighting but he was dominant at it and it paid him quite a bit.

Plus Laraque fought while there were many heavyweights left in the league.

He was legit.

Only complain I can see about him is he would respect the code to the letter. Hence, he was not the type of guy who would jump a player.

35 yo BGL chased prime Lucic around for a whole game asking him to go. What are you on about? He adhered by the code a bit too much but he never turned down anybody. Put some respect on the goat heavyweight.
Running after a guy and jumping in a play to fight is not the same. I think Xhekaj did the right thing, like I said, I don't understand what staged fights really bring to the game.

I have been watching and associated with this game for many decades. I had always hoped that as a species we would progress to the point where every thinking person would readily ask what level or type of fighting, in any form, brings or adds to this great sport. To show the state of the human condition , as an administrator of an amateur sport organization, I have attended multiple sport /recreational conferences where the agenda included both presentations on the application of Rowan's Law (concussion prevention) and the promotion/regulation of combat sports. A somewhat bewildering inconsistency. But what do I know. Such is the state of the human condition which is amply and darkly confirmed by the raging wars that beset the world today. But hey, Xhekaj, is a great fighter. So let's all celebrate that.

Loved the Left Hand glove shot on Corey Perry. I'm sure Xhekaj was well aware of Perry's penchant for doing the same thing. :D

It is exactly the type of two minute penalty (when necessary) I want to see out of Arber going forward. No need to drop them to get their attention my man. Love it.

Players will get the message real quick when he can unleash a devastating blow like that unannounced.

Hey, the world needs soft intellects like yourself just as much as we need the hardened brutes. Can't we all just get along.

Kind of turning around on Xhekaj playing PP is very good with puck often able to beat one guy one on one either down low or holding the blue line and than make a good pass that create space and when he shots he get the puck on net. Also if he is playing PP maybe he isn’t dropping the glove when it isn’t necessary.

The thing that kills me is Kaiden Ghule has shown me to be the most intelligent Dman for joining the rush. His plays have by far the best outcomes of anyone in terms of execution. I honestly don't get why they don't use him on PP 1. Matheson still bugs me with his play selection.

Just for giggles... 8×8 for Guhle or 8×3 for the Sheriff?

With our LHD depth and futur cap implications, I wouldn't be surprise to see Hugo dangling Guhle as the primary piece for a superstar forward.just like Romanov was before his new contract.

I'm open to trading anybody if it's for the betterment of the team, but if we're trading Guhle, there better be one heck of a player coming back. I can't see it happening but nothing is guaranteed.

He must lead the league in getting his shots blocked. I like the instinct he has to shoot everything in the offensive zone, but he just shoots into someone's knees half the time. Maybe it is a death by 1000 cuts strategy and he knows the blocked shots will weaken them lol

That's called the Shea Weber strategy; you start by injuring opponents with your slapshots from the point for 4-5 years, and then lanes open up for your shot to hit the net later on in your career :)

Like his physical/fighting prowess, Xhekaj’s shooting penchant will soon become an instrument of intimidation. The fact that he ‘bounced’ a near 100 mph shot off a defender ( he survived) will spread around the league like wildfire. It soon will be a very brave sole that will rush him at the point. If it causes even a moment of hesitation, that is difference between getting the puck through or it being blocked. Intimidation comes in many forms.

Neither. If i am KH, I would take more sensible approach and sign both(Guhle/Xhekaj) for a bridge deal, you don't have to copy Ottawa or Buffalo with their signings. I think obviously if you can get them signed long term for a small cap hit, you do it but if they start asking 8M+, no way I would do it.

Big fan but it's alarming that he was our best D last night. Even at the point offensively he was really good outside of that bullet he sent into his opponents legs

He is our 4th best dman already, and I think he has a lot of untapped potential in offense. Id keep playing him there. I believe he could even become a top3.

It was nice that he got a real nice ovation last night.
What I like about Xhekaj is that he shows zero respect for any opponent. Habs have a much more special player than they thought.

As much as I disliked the Bergevin regime, I do appreciate that they saw his potential and signed him. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

If he had juuuust a little bit more sideways mobility like Barron or Hutson he would be amazing, but that's a lot to ask for a 6"4 guy who has never been great at skating. He will get there

Arber is good at all forms of intimidation!!!! IMO

He walks the blue line well for a huge guy and his extended reach makes up for his minor limitations in lateral skating ability.

He skates ridiculously well for a big man. He has a good first step and acceleration and well above average speed. His edges need work when defending but not terrible and compensates by knocking guys over or pinning them.

He is a unicorn.
