Put him with Carrier, Savard is waaaaay to slow to be able to cover for Xhekaj's mistakes
Not that Xhekaj do a lot of mistakes, but when he does, it can't be Savard behind him
In an intense game against one of the fastest teams in the league, I thought Xhekaj held up well and played a solid game as he was calm with the puck, maintained good positioning; was intimidating physically and showed surprising mobility. He needs someone better than Savard.
Savard is bringing him down.
Your logic is sound but will Marty "disrespect" a veteran Dman like Savard? If Guhle comes back I would sit Savard for a few games and have him play with Arber. It will give Guhle some time to readjust to the speed of the game with easier matchups.
I wouldn't touch Struble/Hutson because they have good chemistry together.
Imagine what upgrading a Savard with a Guhle would do to our D corps. If Guhle comes back I would sit Savard for a few games and have him play with Arber. It will give Guhle some time to readjust to the speed of the game with easier matchups.
I wouldn't touch Struble/Hutson because they have good chemistry together.
I'd rather Guhle not come back unless he's 100%. He's part of the long term solution.
I would see it as game management more than anything. Savard is not 25 years old anymore and a few games off would help instead of hurt him.Your logic is sound but will Marty "disrespect" a veteran Dman like Savard?
100% both Struble and Xhekaj deserve their spots, Savard should be the odd man out, the only question is do they have the stones to sit the vet?If Guhle comes back I would sit Savard for a few games and have him play with Arber. It will give Guhle some time to readjust to the speed of the game with easier matchups.

I also loved him and the other D skating it in to press in the 3rd as well (Avs comeback). Move him to left wing if ever log jammed at ld! So huge and powerful carrying it..Xhekaj has been doing a much better job skating the puck out of danger. It's hard not to get Souray vibes when he gets going.
I don’t think PK ever did something as outrageously stupid as Xhekaj in pursuit of a hit on his own blue line… on the opposite side of his position.PK Subban use to do that but he added offense to team. Could tolerate bad defense more.
I think MSL is rather strict when players make the same mistake or ignore specific instructions. No doubt with 7dmen dressed he could afford to scratch our worst dman after he made such a calamitous decision. No doubt they worked with him a lot over the season and expected better than this, and at this time, in this game. This is SMarty looking for a scapegoat then looking in the mirror. EVERY goal ever scored is a product of a mistake and there are plenty of mistakes to go around.
