Player Discussion Arber Xhekaj the Sheriff Returns Edition

Put him with Carrier, Savard is waaaaay to slow to be able to cover for Xhekaj's mistakes

Not that Xhekaj do a lot of mistakes, but when he does, it can't be Savard behind him

Savard is not good enough any more to play Carrier's minutes against top lines. Savard must remain on the third pairing.....Xhekaj plays so conservatively for the most part outside of the dzone so I don't know why you would even make this suggestion.

He needs someone better than Savard.

Savard is bringing him down.
In an intense game against one of the fastest teams in the league, I thought Xhekaj held up well and played a solid game as he was calm with the puck, maintained good positioning; was intimidating physically and showed surprising mobility.

In short order, no one is going to have carry this kid. He’ll be able to do the carrying.

If Guhle comes back I would sit Savard for a few games and have him play with Arber. It will give Guhle some time to readjust to the speed of the game with easier matchups.

I wouldn't touch Struble/Hutson because they have good chemistry together.
Your logic is sound but will Marty "disrespect" a veteran Dman like Savard?

Imagine what upgrading a Savard with a Guhle would do to our D corps.

If we can squeak in I think we could do some damage honestly

I forgot to mention this when the Habs and sens played.

The team 1200 pumped Xhekaj's tires about being a very tough customer and debated about him being the toughest in the league.

100% both Struble and Xhekaj deserve their spots, Savard should be the odd man out, the only question is do they have the stones to sit the vet?

Xhekaj has been doing a much better job skating the puck out of danger. It's hard not to get Souray vibes when he gets going.
I also loved him and the other D skating it in to press in the 3rd as well (Avs comeback). Move him to left wing if ever log jammed at ld! So huge and powerful carrying it..

Should sit against Florida. Only played 3:50 against the Canes. Wifi stepped up to deliver a hit but took himself out of position and led to a Canes 2 on 1. Hardly played rest of game.

PK Subban use to do that but he added offense to team. Could tolerate bad defense more. Wifi is a tough guy #7 D, but that's it.

I don’t think PK ever did something as outrageously stupid as Xhekaj in pursuit of a hit on his own blue line… on the opposite side of his position.

Xhekaj is fortunate there aren’t many expectations of the team in general because that bozo move could haunt him for years to come.

Now I'm sorry i got rid of the game.

Does anyone have a video of X crime against humanity? To play him 4 minutes surely he made a mistake that Math hasn't invented yet.

Never mind, I found it on Twitter....

Yes, that was a dumb move which should of gotten X an ear pull, but not stapled to the bench.

This is SMarty looking for a scapegoat then looking in the mirror. EVERY goal ever scored is a product of a mistake and there are plenty of mistakes to go around.

I think MSL is rather strict when players make the same mistake or ignore specific instructions. No doubt with 7dmen dressed he could afford to scratch our worst dman after he made such a calamitous decision. No doubt they worked with him a lot over the season and expected better than this, and at this time, in this game.

Arber is playing himself into a journeyman goon’s career.
