Player Discussion Arber Xhekaj the Sheriff Returns Edition

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Put him with Carrier, Savard is waaaaay to slow to be able to cover for Xhekaj's mistakes

Not that Xhekaj do a lot of mistakes, but when he does, it can't be Savard behind him

Savard is not good enough any more to play Carrier's minutes against top lines. Savard must remain on the third pairing.....Xhekaj plays so conservatively for the most part outside of the dzone so I don't know why you would even make this suggestion.

He needs someone better than Savard.

Savard is bringing him down.
In an intense game against one of the fastest teams in the league, I thought Xhekaj held up well and played a solid game as he was calm with the puck, maintained good positioning; was intimidating physically and showed surprising mobility.

In short order, no one is going to have carry this kid. He’ll be able to do the carrying.

If Guhle comes back I would sit Savard for a few games and have him play with Arber. It will give Guhle some time to readjust to the speed of the game with easier matchups.

I wouldn't touch Struble/Hutson because they have good chemistry together.
Your logic is sound but will Marty "disrespect" a veteran Dman like Savard?

Imagine what upgrading a Savard with a Guhle would do to our D corps.

If we can squeak in I think we could do some damage honestly

I forgot to mention this when the Habs and sens played.

The team 1200 pumped Xhekaj's tires about being a very tough customer and debated about him being the toughest in the league.

100% both Struble and Xhekaj deserve their spots, Savard should be the odd man out, the only question is do they have the stones to sit the vet?

Xhekaj has been doing a much better job skating the puck out of danger. It's hard not to get Souray vibes when he gets going.
I also loved him and the other D skating it in to press in the 3rd as well (Avs comeback). Move him to left wing if ever log jammed at ld! So huge and powerful carrying it..
