Really? Fking NHL. Ok, ignore the re-signjng part.
Yeah, it changed in the last CBA. IIRC, the NHLPA pushed for those type of conditional pick trades tied to a player re-signing to be removed as they felt it was creating scenarios where teams would say no to re-signing a player only because it would cost them a pick if they re-signed him.

Played at Notre Dame in college.

I'm sure he'd be happy with a trade here, at worst he continues to play in the A, but a bit closer to home.

Probably be at least a 1st though. Dumping 5m per for 2 years for an AHL goalie isn't gonna come cheap.

For us, it's that 1 bad year, because $100k to $1.1m is peanuts

and yeah i understand it is a dump, even if he might end up being useful, remains a dump from LA's perspective, so the Hawks need something of value as a return

I wonder if a bigger deal cannot be made between the two?
how hot is Connor Murphy for you guys? He's 30 w/ $4m for 4 yrs
I can see LA parting ways with a Bjornfot, Kupari, Durzi, Walker type, alongside a pick (not 1st)

Murpy is a decent 2nd pairing guy when healthy. Great size, not terrible skating wise (considering his size), decent defensively, and an RHD, which every team not named Kings probably would covet due to positional need.

But if he's hurt, which he is maybe half the time, he's just okay.

You havent lived if you havent had an authentic deep dish. It’s barely pizza, but it’s amazing.

Can he even play? I thought he was an ltir contract at this point?
Define “play.” If by play you mean suit up and participate in a game then yes, he can play. If by play you mean can he still be a top six center then no. He’s not the player he once was or anywhere close to it but he’s healthy enough to play.**

**Probably. The Caps GM alluded to Nick having to make decisions about his career this summer so he could return or LTIRetire, not sure yet.

well it's in a world where our RDs are
Doughty
Roy
Clarke

but I don't know if management expects Clarke to come in and play 82 games for us, so i can see where splitting time between Murphy/Clarke can be beneficial, possible for both players

Durzi, Walker should be gone if our GM is smart (big if)

We need a D that is positionally sound, yet hits hard, plays the PK

If I'm going by stats alone, Murphy's stats are pretty decent given the season Chicago has had

so i think he does fit a need without him being too expensive, but yeah he's oft injured, but he managed to play a full season which is a good sign

I guess i didn't factor in that the reason you guys want a bad contract back is to reach the floor?

Jesus imagine Chicago being in some kind of a cap hell for years and all of a sudden you need bad contracts just to reach the floor, how quick things flip!

1 yr at 5 mil? I’d do it if you include a 3rd that turns into a 2nd if they trade or re-sign.
OP said the hawks need to get to the floor. This isn’t a straight cap dump. A 4th that’s turns into a 3rd is more appropriate.

Hawks need help reaching the cap floor? King's can definitely help with that. How much cap do you need?

Nate Schmidt for a 3rd. By all accounts he’s a great teammate and good guy to have in the room around younger players. Helps keep things light.

Was a good when partnered with Samberg who improved dramatically as the season went on.
