What Google not work....? Took me 3 seconds to find that, literally, 3 seconds.

I know who Glen Hanlon was. He was an average goalie and coach who certainly didn't play every night. Has nothing to do with HOFer Glenn Hall who had a winning record for his career and played 502 straight games because he was that damn good.

Its a different game from the old days. players are bigger and stronger. Shot speed has increased as well. Travel is huge now going acorss all of the US and Canada. Looking back to the days of yore and compareing Glen Hall to modern times is not really the same.
When i was a young Lad back in the day i remember playing Goal without a mask.. wouldnt do it now. (although i may look better with a mask now.) :D

They need a compitent backup. Hopfully it can be Dobie or Mac.

On a different note, who cares what a guy did 50 years ago? The game has changed. No goalie plays every game in a season in today's NHL. Besides, how many other goalies in league history are even close to that number? It's an anomaly and applying that standard to everyone else just because one guy did it is absurd.

I mean, Joe Dimggio had a hit in 56 consecutive games, so why doesn't that happen all the time? It's been done, so you know it's possible. So why has that not been matched yet? It's been 76 years but nobody has. Or what about Ripkin? Surely someone can easily beat his streak of consecutive games of 2,632. But nobody has. Nobodies close. Bunch of losers. Bunch of wimps.

So apparently McIntyre is back up, and Khudobin is back down??

Trying to figure out the reason for the moves. McIntyre got to play in Providence - I 100% support that. Did McIntyre feel some burning desire to stay and play the AHL ASG Sunday/Monday? Is there some rule that the Bruins didn't know about that forced McIntyre into the ASG because he played with PRO on Friday and was on the roster Saturday? Are the Bruins trying to save a little actual cash by sticking McIntyre in the minors for an extra few days? (McIntyre is 2-way, Khudobin is 1-way - Dobby doesn't sap cap space in Providence, but you still have to pay his actual NHL salary while he's there.)

Either way, this is smacking of a scheduled loss with the backup playing WSH instead of TBL. Maybe they just figured they'd take a "guaranteed" win against TBL, and do what they can against WSH. Either way, I'm not letting tonight's game color my judgement of McIntyre as a backup yet. You can't judge a backup when he's playing against the top team in the league.

This is a weird month. Any other time, with only 10 games in the next 29 days (including 3/1), I'd say push through and ride Rask. But of course with the bye weeks, it means 2.5 back-to-backs. Vancouver is obvious backup goalie bait. But I wouldn't mind playing Rask during the entire California trip, since it's fairly well spaced out.

I am not big on McIntyre.Looks lost in NHL games I seen him.Sloppy could be word actually. But still early Maybe he figures it out .Willing to give him more time.I still say Subban has more talent then him.Maybe they want him playing more in AHL finding his game again.

That would be sweet though
:biglaugh: Well, anything's possible, right? :D

It just seems strange the up and down during the All Star break. Did they absolutely have to call Dobie up then, even though they weren't playing? What was the purpose of him coming up to Boston during this time period, while Zane went down (besides the AHL All Star game, of course). Did Zane have to stay and play down there for a couple of games to keep it legit that he was sent down because of the All Star game?

I'm sticking to my theory (unless it is the above, where he had no choice but to play to keep it legit) that he's being showcased.

I'd give him more time, he seems to start slow and figure it out at each level. Seven games as backup is still a small sample.

Guys look at this I've found Rask's back up:

Pretty sure he wants to sign with the Panthers.

Yes it is.I am fine with giving him time.7 Games is not much .I am not fine with Sweeney 2 straight years wasting cap space on busts to backup Rask.He needs to start getting things right .Tired of excuses .It's his job to get it right. He should be out of mulligans now

Even weirder that McIntyre gets called up and flies out to Washington, just to sit on the bench...and Khudobin, in theory, flies back to Providence commercial. Or maybe Khudobin sits with the healthy scratches and tags along on the charter for the ride home? If McIntyre's not going to start today (which it seems he's not), just let him stay in Boston for a few days, and have Khudobin back up Rask.

I'm just not seeing the logic, which means there's something I'm not seeing (ie showcasing McIntyre - and/or Khudobin?!), or they're not acting logically. I can live with the former...teams aren't open books, and there could be other things. Maybe it's a "locker room" thing, and they needed a Russian court jester for a day or two. Maybe McIntyre really DID want a trip out to PA, and the team thought he deserved it. The idea that the front office isn't using some form of logic in scheduling goaltenders, however, terrifies me.

I think it just means that they trust McIntyre much more than Khudobin and that McIntyre is the back-up goalie. That he was in Providence to play a few games and get some reps but that they need the best players up in Boston even if he just sits on the bench. They'll start Rask but on the second of a B2B against a very good team they might worry that the back-up might actually have to play and they don't want Khudobin back on the ice in Boston again.
I don't think it's complicated.

I might get some flack for this, but I'll ask anyway.

Is it possible they are showcasing him for a few games for a future trade?

I don't think it is the time to " showcase " anybody . Rask should be playing . Why throw McIntyre to the wolves ? His confidence has to be a little shaky at the moment .
