Proposal: Anson Carter: Marner for Rantanen

I mean, look at the difference in systems. Avs are terrible defensively and play a rush game you would expect scoring to be higher.
It is truly remarkable to see just how little you know about anything that isn't related to the Leafs

I don't think he will leave money at the table just to soothe MacK's ego. Adios amigos.

I dont think you understood his post at all....

I came for the discussion but stayed for the copium, holy hell this thread is funny and just absolutely chock-full of bias. As a fan of neither team, the answer is Rantanen.

Yes no doubt about it Hieskanen has been very good in playoffs but id gamble on Dahlin being better.

Obviously you’re one of the guys that’d take Sam Bennet over Connor Bedard and think that’s ridiculous
The random names you throw out are wild. Pick two players that are similar statistically.

Youre going to be extra butthurt when the Team Canada rosters drop...

Sure buddy, whatever you say.
Thinking O’Rielly is better then Tage Thompson is delusional

Okay Mathews or Malkin. Game 7 stanly cup finals. You can add one of them to Vegas. who are you adding to win the cup this year?

The only correct answer is Mathews.

Malkin today or Malkin in his prime?

And even Malkin today, I bet the poll isnt as much of a slam dunk as you think it is. Malkin still has the talent to go off in any one game where Matthews playoff history will make people second guess him.

Malkin now isn’t as good as Mathews. Prime Malkin was as good as Mathews when healthy

Yeah sure

Toronto would be better off with Rantanen, he would help to change their ”culture”
i dont think anything would change in Toronto, I'd actually don't think a single thing would change in Toronto even if Rantanen was a Leaf, I think Marner would likely breakout of his shell away from Toronto in the playoffs

nothing will ever change in Toronto. too much pressure on a day to day basis

Picking Malkin today is just insane imo.
We've realized your opinion is purely statistically and age based. Is Matthews the better player today? 100000%

But in a game that means the Cup, Malkin has more experience in showing up when it matters. I'll make a poll and see what everyone thinks. I bet Matthews still wins, but not 90-100%.

Came here to give my "hot take" that I'd rather have Rantanen even at equal salary and equal term...looks like a lot of people agree already though.

If Marner is at 11 and Rantanen at 13, I'm taking Rants all day long from the Leafs.

Anyways, Colorado never does this.

Marner has gone ppg 3/8 times in the playoffs and 3/8 over ppg
Rantanen has gone ppg 6/7 and 6/7 over ppg in the playoffs

Why the Avs would give up the better playoff performer makes no sense. Marner isn't even the better season performer.

To be fair, most Torontonians won’t even dispute this. The problem is that it’s not a realistic trade from the outset.

Would Colorado let Rantanen walk for nil? Or, if they can't sign him would they trade him at deadline?

Very diubtful that the Avs trade him. It might end up being like Landeskog. Theyll likely use that 8th year to their benefit and possibly deferred salary.

So Marner, who wants to be a Leaf for life or Rantanen, a guy who's made it known he wants a massive salary and is not loyal to the team, he wants to go where he gets paid more

And you think the Leafs shoulder take Rantanen ?

lol No, if you're starting a team from scratch or can add 1 guy to your team, sure go Rantanen.

Context matters though, Marner is a top line player that wants to be here. Rantanen would very likely walk in FA, just bad asset management.
