We have only lost twice in regulation with an absolute sieve in net

Everyone saying they need to get a goalie it’s not that easy. Look at available goalies who teams might consider trading. Now try and fit there cap hit in there. The only move right now is to get a goalie with roughly 2 million or less cap hit. Any goalies out there that is a significant upgrade over jones or Woll. I feel like it’s another 1A/1B goalie they are hoping might be able to be good enough to be a starter.

I blame the team in front of him for sure. Terribly sloppy play with way too many turnovers in their own zone. Good teams don't do that as often as this team does.

Samsonov is also not an NHL goaltender at this moment (or all season I guess).

So, both can be true. Need evidence? See Wednesday vs Ottawa.

Freddy was a legit starter for us for multiple seasons. Had some injury issues towards the end but he was a workhorse for us.

It's been a mess since he left largely. No consistency.

Imagine hitting a point where the coach is leaving you in to die, just to keep Martin f***ing Jones fresh.

I had fun watching this game tbh, it was a comedy act and it’s not every day you get to watch a guy flame out this hard. This is the sort of stuff we’ll be talking about for years, I think this is at the point of being a worse flame out than either of Campbell or Sparks.

Maybe for his sake is best to get him out of Toronto altogether and send him to Newfoundland and play for the Growlers to get his head straight. Hildeby up here until Woll returns is not going to hurt him like people think, even Petruzzelli can’t be as bad as Samsonov right now.

Just compare the sv% and GAA of the 3 goalies playing behind this team and you’ll see it’s not the team in front of the goalie.

Woll and Jones have identical and very serviceable stats. Samsonov is just the worst goalie in the NHL

In the post game thread of the very first game of the year (a 5 to 4 ot loss to the Habs), I said that there's no way that Samsonov should start the next game. And I got blasted for saying that. The goals weren't his fault. Goal such and such was a bad giveaway. He got a bad bounce, etc. Thing is, I wasn't even referring to goals that he allowed. I was referring to his overall play and how out of sync he looked out there. He looked terrible to me. Apparently I was the only one watching his play. And nothing has changed since. He has not regressed. He's played extremely poorly since opening day.

I think they have to go to Hidebeast to back up Jones at this point. I didn't want to do it but I think it's our only option.

My worry with Hildeby is they Kaskisuo him and his NHL career is over before it started.

Petru probably doesn't stop 3 of those goals, but, is lucky and aware enough to stop that 2nd(?) and has reflexes enough to stop the 5th. We likely win 5-3 with just AHL quality goaltending.
