People let game 7 get to them too much. He was never a true starter, but he was a perfectly serviceable 1B in a tandem setup.

Ironically the exact type the team needs right now

Leafs fans string goalie after goalie out to dry and then all summer long they cry about no one wanting to play in Toronto.. yeah, its because of the taxes..

But people still blame the team in front of him. As if no other hockey club makes any mistakes over the course of a 60 minute game
Based on the mistakes Columbus made tonight, we should have scored 14

Matthews alone had 2 chances from the low slot in the last 5 minutes of the 3rd but was stopped by a waiver claim

Sammy is beyond trash

Dubas saw the writing on wall and forced shanny to fire him. Lol.
We always said, the GM to follow Dubas had a hell of a job on their hands. So many patch work pieces all coming up at the same time. Renting a third of a team. Having to deal with the 3 upcoming UFAs. Not having many assets to trade away for help.

Did not envy the next guy. I think Kyle probably saw this coming and wanted a redo and get outta town. When Pittsburgh came calling while he was still under contract, I think his mind had been made up.

Just over 2 months until the trade deadline. They're effectively a .500 team right now after tonight's loss and that includes 4 miraculous comeback wins with the goalie pulled late in the game. If they're still in this position, are you really signing Nylander for $10.5M and Marner for $11.5M in the near future? If so, why? What do you think will be different in the next 5+ years than the last?

I'm not even saying rebuild but if I could get a decent return in a deadline deal for Nylander (the only elite player they have control over), and the team is still in the same position as they are right now, I would trade him in a heartbeat because the only other options are tripling down on this core + tagalongs or watching Nylander walk to UFA status for zilch.

That 5th goal did it for me. That was a shot he has to find. Yes, even the best get beaten on a half chance like that, but it's just a reocurring theme right now. Put him out of his misery by sending him down. He will either shake off what's bothering him or disappear into oblivion.
Yea, I was defending him with the ppl I was watching with over goals 3 & 4......but the 5th one......there was nothing more to say.....he needs a change of scenery if there's any hope of a bounce back

It's clear 1 of the 2 is out for D and goalie funds.

And we aren’t the ones that ruined Fichaud. We traded him to the Island to get Clark back when he was still a prospect.
We didn't ruin Fichaud. It's not like he was 18 playing for us front of an awful D. Like many Quebec goalies at the time he was over hyped

Kinda like Stephan Fiset and Thibault

Yeah a bunch of the goals tonight were screens or people left wide open in front.. but that one he just had to have.

Yeah I’d say we should be sellers but I can’t see us being any better without William and we can’t trade any of the other 3 without their consent. So we are screwed again. Didn’t see that coming.

Nylander was also a complete sack of shit tonight. Zero f***s given defensively and was a -3 because of it. He was on the ice for 5 f***ing goals against. f*** off. Compete

Nylander has and will always be a soft, one-dimensional winger.. and when he's one of the last men back it always makes me nervous.
