Jesus H Christ some of the takes in here acting like we got whipped 7-1 tonight. Just terrible.
They haven’t gotten whipped in any of these losses except maybe like two.

Thinking that this team is a basement dweller because they lost a lot of close games this month is just as silly as thinking they were legit cup contenders because they won a lot of games to start the season.

I already watched the Yankees fart away a historic first half, and the Giants in the process of farting away their best start in years.

I don't need to be seeing this shit again

Try being a Jags fan for the past two decades and get back to me.

Looking damn bright at the moment for me though. Both the Jags and Devils are ascending. Waited a long time for this

I miss the old Jesper Bratt
It's time for another benching and I'm not being facetious. Bratt did jack all the first five or six games last year (despite people complaining he was dominating Corsi-wise, where does that sound familiar?), got benched then went on a tear and it's not like the first time putting the spurs to him got him going.

Devils will be the laughing stock of the league if they don't recover NOW and start winning games to prevent this from happening.
Blow hard for Bedard? Play shitty for Fantilli? Collapse for Carlsson? Take a crapsky for Matvei?

Just so many good prospects this year lol.

This is a joke, I think we’ll turn it around again

Over/under 8.5 days till we're out of the playoffs?

Team is in a free fall and Ruff can't stop it. Another wasted year
Currently in a playoff spot with plenty of season left to get it right

That's the other thing that worries me. Aside from Palat the Devils really haven't had any costly injuries yet, and don't give me Bastian. If we're that fragile a fourth liner is a major injury then we really aren't that good. I'm not sure that kind of good fortune will keep up the rest of the year.
Losing your middle d pairing isn't something to overlook either though

You're not benching Bratt. Just stop.

I don’t know what ad I hate more when doing my goals reviews and have to watch an ad before every goal.

The stupid f***in Santa Clause training commercial for some leg massaging device

The Crosby/Swayman winter classic ad

Or the numerous stupid Chipotle ads. “I like taking pride in my food! You walk in and get to see me making your chicken! This is gonna be in your bowl! This is it! This is it! This is it!”.

I should do a “Ads before goals” Review. Which ones suck and which ones don’t. Spoiler alert: they all suck!

I still think the Santa one is the worst.

This is incorrect. The Devils had the third-best PDO in the league over their winning streak with a 1040 PDO 5v5. They were getting 60% of the xG and 70% of the goals. Wishing to suck is so f***ing pathetic I just can't even imagine how that feels.

Boston has a 1040 right now for the whole season to date, so no, it’s not unsustainable.

I doubt it and who gives a shit if they are.

Good for you

Healthy scratching Bratt at this point would have the same effect as Mac healthy scratching Kovalchuk. Probably make a bad situation worse, by making it harder for the team to pull out.

He needs to be better. I feel like he isn’t controlling the puck as well as before overall.

Of all the takes, the hottest one has to be the “this is just like last year” ones.

Yes, a team that went 25 games winning at an .850 clip and now hasn’t been able to be on the correct side of a bunch of one goal games against good teams for a month is exactly the same as a team whose best stretch was a couple of weeks of slightly above .500 hockey and then settled into cellar dweller status for like 70 games.

I don't mean scratching him necessarily, I mean Seversoning him and sitting him for a period or two at the end of some game. Either way he's doing jack all and usually needs a kick in the ass to get going when he has these stretches.

They win these games in November even if we were playing Boston then. On the "heater" we even faced some good goaltending but, we able to overcome to get 3 or 4 goals and yeah took advantage of some lousy goaltending in that process. Heck in our last win we had the fortune of a muffin of a shot from Bratt going in who has since went back to AWOL at least as far as converting goes.

When the team was trying to win last year, you saw a whole lot of games like this. Dominant play sunk by a couple dumb mistakes or bad goals.

It's not apples to apples, but there are a frightening number of similarities.

True this team doesn’t make the playoffs woof they will get wrecked in the media.
It's also what do you then do to improve? Getting Luke in here will be a big boost for the team next year, it's going to make us much more dangerous and improve the power play. But legitimate top end goal scorers are hard to find and cap space becomes an issue too. But let's talk this moment.

Right now we could really use Hamilton to step up and net a couple. (But neither do you want him trying to do too much individually). Severson too might give us something. The defense has vanished as an element in our attack. Mercer has gone cold. Zetterlund and Bratt . . . I'd also say Ruff needs to think about tweaking the lines a bit too, maybe move Bratt back to Nico and Zetterlund up beside Hughes. Mercer is kind of wasted at the bottom of the lineup. But I have no answers. Frankly I didn't see this collapse coming to this degree. And the schedule isn't really getting that much easier these next couple of games. Pittsburgh needs to knock us off to get to the playoffs. All the division teams do and we are wearing a huge bulls eye.
