no it’s just venting on an internet message board after watching our team shit the bed all month after showing a ton of promise.

maybe they’ll turn it around and be fine but they don’t look like a good hockey team. they look like a team that can control the play for long stretches and take a lot of shots, some of them of the high danger variety, but not finish. and let in more goals than they can score every night whether the opponents goals are hard earned or not.

if there’s one thing i can say about the last few years, it that the devils made scoring a goal look SO hard, like they had to fight and fight and fight to put the puck in the net. but the opponents make it look so easy! that’s the hockey we’ve been playing

The latter i bolded, is really so infuriating. I don't see any other team having so much f***ing pain when they have grade A chances all over the game. Game after game in december. Breaks, half-breaks, scrums, 2v1s, breakdowns, they don't know how to f***ing shoot the puck to score.

Yeah all this crap about people 'wanting to be right' about this team is a bunch of horse manure. Yes you have your drive-by negative posters, but the majority of so-called doomerism is from people that are sick and tired of losing and would rather not be negative about this team. Perhaps the sports teams I root for (Mets, Jets, Devils) don't help me in this regard, but on the other hand I have too much experience with collapses and fading off good starts and because of it, recognize the signs of when shit starts to hit the fan quicker than maybe some other people here.
We're 6th in the NHL. It hasn't gone right lately, but the whole context should be taken into consideration. We've been a winning team this year.

Did anyone catch tonight’s Keith Yandle dumb comment of the night? It’s the dumbest one yet.

He was over there implying that Lindy Ruff was the one who decided to bring in Andrew Brunette.

Yes, I’m sure Lindy Ruff on a very hot seat wanted to go out and get the guy that is the most dangerous in taking his job.
I missed that. But it is hilarious because on the game broadcast they mentioned Brunette and Ruff not knowing each other well prior to him start getting the job. (Also the fact that the GM and Brunette are former teammates).

on second look, I don’t really think the Frederic goal on Vitek was a bad one.

He unloaded it before Vitek could get set.

It wasn’t one timed, but it didn’t get off the stick much later than if it were one timed.

There should be no controversy here. Play him until the wheels fall off.

Well, you can sit him on back to backs or when the schedule gets really heavy in non-back to backs.

Play him both of the next two.

Another poster already said it and I’ll reiterate: WE CAN’T FINISH. EITHER GIVE HOLTZ TOP SIX MINUTES OR TRADE HIM!! Why not at least give the kid a shot with Hughes at this point to ignite this woeful finishing?!

My brother is a big Sabres fan and tells me Ruff has always had this propensity to play a defensive oriented forward with the top 6. In the 2000s, it was Greer with Drury…stop being so stubborn and get Haula away from Hughes!!
Couldn't agree with this more...enough with the yo-yoing of Holtz, it isn't doing us, or him any good at this point.

We have zero right to be calling the Bruins frauds while we are hemorrhaging points
They are. The team hemorrhaging points should have beaten them. Are they better than NJ? Maybe right now.

It will come crashing down on them like it has for the last 49 of 50 years. I like my odds.

That’s why we need a win Friday.

They look like they’ve cooled down.

They were neck and neck with Carolina for the division lead, before losing both games against them.

Within the next week and a half they play Pitt, Carolina, and the Rags with games against two meh teams (Detroit and St Louis) sandwiched between.

They need 2 Ws out of three in those Metro games and honestly 3 out of 4 points in that back to back

And again I go back to my sports fandom...I've seen this rationalization before with other teams collapsing. Last year's Mets got off to a flying start the first two months too, then started to crap out but people said everything was fine when they were losing for two months because they were still in first place, except it never got fine and eventually they fell out of first place never to come back.

You aren’t getting a good rental for “ not a lot” though
No - You’re probably right but I think that multiple people need to be moved out of this lineup. When Palat and Bastian come back that will be 2 but we have more than 2 passengers right now.

Little bit of a shakeup would be OK.

Sure he did, just like John Hynes wanted Tom Fitzgerald to babysit him after an 0-6 start when he was on the hot seat

Would be nice to know what Fitz is thinking...

He was everywhere media wise when we were winning(NHL Network etc)....to the point the man was shocked at times how good we were so soon when pressed...

Injuries played a big role but damn...

Please just win a game soon......

We're also banged up and still young and inexperienced. We've just begun.
And they were absolutely terrible last year and would have lost this game by four or five goals instead of being tied late in the third agsinst thr league’s best team. They are better than they were but it’s still a work in progress.

I'm not sure they were happy, but when you play well and lose, it has to be more encouraging than getting destroyed as they were last year.
I don't like the pattern of coughing up goals in tie games with minutes left. This and Dallas and Philadelphia if my memory serves. Maybe Dallas wasn't that, but coughing up the winner with like 4 seconds left in the second period. But anyway, that worries me almost as much as the general futility scoring.

He’s been bungled by the organization pretty badly this season. If there’s one thing really questionable it’s how they’ve used or not used him.

He should have been in the AHL over a month ago.

He went 34 days without playing a single game at one point.

And they got blown out by the Isles last night. But unfortunately they are going to be madder than a disturbed nest of yellow jackets when we go in there.
We’ve have one win in our last 9 games. We better be way madder than they are.
