Not even close to last year. Last year we lost 8-1 against Boston and would have gotten blown out in half those games we lost during this streak.

That's mostly because Vanacek is competent and admittedly they are getting better defending from the D and the forwards. So ok cool. We lose 2 or 3-1 instead of 8-1. But both scores result in the same amount of points in the standings. Is this progress? I guess we will find out.

Boston is the best team in the league and didn’t have McAvoy or Marchand for a month plus

Washington hasn’t had Backstrom or Wilson all season and are right in the race lol

Avs have been decimated by injuries and are still in the playoffs
What do all three of those have?

Oh yeah, Two of them have a Stanley cup champion core while the other just won the cup after being in the playoffs for multiple years before.

Did people think it was going to be easy for the young devils to get into the playoffs?

Perhaps I'm the only one here that was realistic during the long win streak we had.. I always saw the Devils being a wildcard or 3rd in the east team and even after this losing streak I'm comfortable with that projection.

This goes on for two weeks you have to either fire Ruff or look to trade Bratt
And both are really painful for me

I love Bratt and I want Ruff to retire after a playoff birth with us

But id entertain both. And I think thats testament to our potential with this core and the want to unlock it moreso than disappointment or frustration.

So we're the same team as last year but with better goaltending, better defense and better offense? Got it.

I'd expect key injuries to have a negative effect on young teams more than veteran teams.

Meh, this team has enough guys who have been around now. And it’s not like we’re missing Hughes or Nico, injuries are part of the game and good teams can overcome it.

I’m sorry but I just think it’s dumb to claim this is the same team as last year or that they are bad or they won’t make the playoffs or whatever other goofy extreme declarations people want to make because they’ve lost a stupid amount of tightly contested one goal games against good teams this month.

I wouldn't mind if it was. Not giving up a lot for a rental but I think this team is good enough that Fitz should show faith and move something for a finisher so they can get to, and win some in the playoffs.

That experience might be worth more than what they give up.
You aren’t getting a good rental for “ not a lot” though

I mean we’re 4 points ahead of the Islanders and usually if you can’t beat good teams you won’t make the playoffs

Last year this was mostly a mediocre team sunk by goaltending. But even with average goaltending, they were still only the 9 see and quite a bit behind the 8 seed.

If this team holds on to a playoff spot and gets in as a 7/8, it really is a big step forward compared to where the team was last year even after you give them hypothetically average goaltending

They have exactly 0 wins against good teams this month. 0.

You can't spin that as anything other then awful and bottom feeder status
