I liked Crookshanks hustle. Looked a bit like Gallagher. Hope he heals well and comes back this season.

Well this is even worse than anticipated; makes me think of Wolanin and Balcers a few years ago when they got injured in camp... It’s not easy to recover from missing significant time when you’re trying to crack a NHL roster... For Balcers he was still young so it was easier than Wolanin to get back in it. Still hoping Wolanin makes it, not an easy task at this point in his career. It could be somewhat similar to Balcers for Crookshank, maybe if he doesn’t make it next year then he’ll be waived (or traded?) and have another chance somewhere

Why do these things always seem to happen to guys who look like they are about to have a great season and take a big jump in their development.
No offence but couldn’t it have been wedman or even aspirot?

really sucks. Hope he gets back ahead of schedule and on track to make the team next year. Pretty tough and determined guy it seems.

Angus is the kind of 4th liner we need. It sucks that we have more lefties than righties but

Tkachuk - Norris - Ennis
Formenton - Stutzle - Batherson
Paul - Pinto - Brown
Crookshank - White - Sanford
Watson

Of course, Ennis is not ideal there (and Formenton too) but have to go with what we have. And that is IF the forward group is healthy

Hoping the injury didn’t set him back to much. If he makes it in a bottom 6 roll as hard nosed pest that’s exactly what Ottawa needs: also really helps the 2018 draft class look solid if he makes it with Brady and JBD.

Crookshank could be battling Greig & Kelly for that 3rd line spot & role.

Nothing against Kelly but he's closer to a Max McCormick than a NHL 3rd liner. Having players below average for the position they play is exactly how you end up having a below average team.

We need guys like White, Brown, Formenton maybe even Pinto or Greig on the 3rd line. Not the Kellys, Watsons, Gambrells, Sanfords...

Never said he would win it, just compete for it since he is the most experienced of the three. And Given that Crookshank has been out the entire season I think he could also be in tough to beat out Greig who afterall being a 1st rd pick should get an extended look. I also never said any of those other guys you mentioned were 3rd liners.

It's times like this that I wish the sens had a comms person on HF that would just jump in and occasionally provide an update for us.

Anyone here from the org (or maybe Mendez?) willing to just jump in and give us an update?

Maybe Angus himself if he's reading this?

There used to be someone from the org posting in here occasionally.

As you can imagine, some folks were pretty rude to them, often posting unrelated grievances when they were sharing some info.

When you think about it, this place is barely tolerant of people who have moderate views towards the organization, let alone a person who actually works for the team.

My advice to them would be to stay away, but continue to lurk for some fan perspective. This is not exactly a team friendly environment, and anyone officially from the team in here wouldn’t be high enough up to deserve the heat, or be paid enough to stand and take it.

Ian can’t be that person either as he’s taken a decidedly harsher tone with the organization. I’m not sure the team would pick him to be their insider. He’s the people’s champ for most in here, but can’t play both roles.

That leaves Bruce, who gives updates, is accused of being the voice of the team, while simultaneously reviled by most in here as well. Not sure him posting on HFSens would go over well either.

In the end I think we’re just going to have to sit and wait :)

I don’t see Kelly ever being more than a 4th liner (if that). I could definitely see Crookshank making the team over Greig if their want Greig to get some Mann time in Belleville.
Everyone can use a little bit of Mann time

Any update on his injury status? Expected to return?
He tore his MCL and ACL and was expected to be out 4-6 months. So best case scenario he will be back at the end of January, but more likely not til late February or March.

Good news is Brannstrom comes back soon, bad news is that Josh is going to play every game over somebody who should be played

You said Crookshank & Kelly could be battling for that 3rd line spot & role. Nothing wrong saying that but what I am adding is that I hope we'll have better candidates to fill that role! We don't have that much more time to waste, the clock is already ticking. Chabot turns 26 y/o next season, Batherson will have 5 years left on his contract, Tkachuk and Chabot 6 years left... We need a solid lineup top to bottom if we want to have a chance to compete in this league. No more jersey fillers and below average depth players and veterans on their way out of the league.

IMO ideal 3rd line would be Formenton-Pinto-Brown with White, Paul and Crookshank on the 4th

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
?????? - Stutzle - ??????
Formenton-Pinto-Brown
Crookshank - White - Paul
Watson/Kelly/Kastelic

Hopefully one of Jarventie, Greig, Sokolov is ready to play on a line with Stuztle. The other guy SHOULD BE a solid veteran (like Claude Giroux, for example), and most specifically a guy who played center in his career to show Stu the ropes.

Merry Christmas Aragorn. Man I am exhausted from watching the kids opening gifts lol

I go here for injuries :

I used to visit that website to look at pre-season stats too. Anyway, this is what it says about Crooks :

But the expected return was January 26th up until recently... IIRC

Thanks, just glad there is a chance to see him this season whether in Belleville or Ottawa.
