So, Brunette was traveling down the road, minding his own business, not hurting anyone, when he was stopped by an armed agent of the State, assaulted, kidnapped, and locked in a cage
That is not how freedom works
Who exactly was the victim of his heinous crime? He was committing a felony.
Why does that matter? He was driving drunk, simple as that. He also wasn't in a gated community. I worked for my families insurance company throughout my 20's and we had plenty of claims involving golf carts and other slow moving motorized vehicles. Most involved booze. Can't believe the number of people in here crying about this.*In a golf cart in a gated community.
They can plan ahead, or they can choose not to drink to a level where they get above the legal limit. So now realize what youve done here; youve said no biking and no skateboarding drunk. So what? You think people will magically stop getting drunk? Or will they now fly home?
Nobody is being forced to do anything if they choose to get drunk and then choose to operate a vehicle. That's unfortunate if it creates an inconvenience, that's called being a responsible adult. Neat little bicycle tangent you went on without much of a point.By you charging folks for drunk biking and skateboarding, youre now forcing them to get behind the wheel of a car. Or do you seriously thonk someone who bikes to the bar will now start shelling out hundreds to Uber? Lmfao
Here is how the 'world actually operates', you drive a golf cart on a street drunk, you risk a DUI, "I live right there!" and an Uber being inconvenient aren't always going to save you. Sorry, welcome to the real world. You don't get to pick and choose which laws you choose to follow and avoid consequence, any grown adult should know what it means to drive drunk.Thats the funniest part about the 'illegal is illegal' crowd; yall have zero concept of how the world actually operates.
Nice strawman pivot to "zero tolerance for every law in the book"... Drunk driving gets enforced. Nobody but you seems to be talking about "every law"Good luck instilling zero tolerance for every law in the book, Im sure your work force wont stall and everyones liceneses wont be revoked
I too wish I could live in a blissful world where I don't have to follow society's laws and expectations, must be nice to live in a crystal palace and do whatever I'd want without consequence. Too bad that's not how it works for any of us in society.I wish I could believe we lived in a crystal palace like you think we do. It seems blissful, at least
Wow, what a dumb question. Use your head, man.Who exactly was the victim of his heinous crime?

Well saidThis might be a good point of the thread to remind everyone that, regardless of whether or not you agree with the reason a cop pulls you over, regardless of if you think the cop has a funny sounding voice, regardless of whether you think the cop is a power tripping, snarky ***hole…
…don’t drive drunk. Just don’t. Not in a car, not on a motorcycle, not in an ATV, and indeed not in a golf cart. It might seem harmless (a lot of folks ITT seem to think so), but trust me- it’s not fun to watch your friend die on the pavement because it’s ‘just a golf cart’ and ‘everyone drinks in them.’ It actually really ****ing sucks. A lot.
Ill stick to reality where the goal is to prevent drunk driving and save real lives; not some fantasy land some live in where everyones a saint and 'just shouldnt' drink and drive, and golf carts are on the same level as a bmw. They can plan ahead, or they can choose not to drink to a level where they get above the legal limit.

oh god please tell me there isn't a high pitched voice minority we need to worry about, I can't tell whats sarcasm anymore,Thinly veiled hate for the police and people with high-pitched voice in this thread.
Wow, what a dumb question. Use your head, man.
Man just say you ride your bike drunk regularly. You keep dwelling on bicycles, lol. Burnette was drunk as heck, might have gotten a warning if he hadn't started lying through his teeth and then just dug himself in.Ill stick to reality where the goal is to prevent drunk driving and save real lives; not some fantasy land some live in where everyones a saint and 'just shouldnt' drink and drive, and golf carts are on the same level as a bmw.
The reason cops tend not to charge DUIs for bikers, which you seem to not understand, is specifically because they know theyll drive if they cant bike. No reasonable, logical minded person expects an alcoholic/partier to all of a sudden start paying hundreds in Ubers or even better yet just quit drinking lmfao.
The real world is different than this dystopian 'just dont do illegal things' society you think we live in. You saying 'plan ahead' is logic, something a solid 30%+ of any countries population operates without. You though will incriminate a biker who could easily have been behind the wheel, and next time will be because its pretty damn obvious if youre the same biker or not in a beach town; and you took his only way of not driving drunk away, by riding his bike.
Im trying to prevent reality not create a fantasy; and a golf cart (and quite obviously a bike, I cant even believe I had to argue that) does not rank anywhere near a car and is in no way the same level of offense. Theres a reason they arent charged at anywhere near the same rates, its preventative
Lol the cop is a condescending dbag the entire time. It was pretty clear from the jump Brunette had too much to drink and the cop just toys with him. Complete nerd who likely got bullied in school
There are a number of crimes for which there is no victim, or no victim per se. Including felonies. But you surely knew that already.Who exactly was the victim of his heinous crime?
Was my point not obvious? There are a number of crimes for which there is no victim, or no victim per se. Including felonies. But you surely knew that already.
I tend to agree…he played a stupid game and won a stupid prize and he will probably think twice about getting behind the wheel of any kind of vehicle next time he’s wasted. That’s a win for him and for others. My goodness people will bicker about anything. Dude got pinched in a golf cart and acted like a dummy, move it along. Yikes. Everything doesn't have to be a moral crossbar folks.
Brunette didnt look good but who does drunk in a situation with police, Idrc about Brunette though as long as he can coach going forward.Man just say you ride your bike drunk regularly.
