I really hope we can give our top 6 potential players a roster shot. I haven't seen any on our team yet. I know it's early but I'd love to see Vey Toffoli on a good line. I really hope Dean doesn't suck at giving top 6 kids a real shot cause I haven't seen it yet.

Why call either of them up? We have no room or need for them right now, let them continue to develop in the AHL like they should be doing.

Considering his limited impact and role at the NHL, people expecting more than a mid to late draft pick were fooling themselves.

Good luck to Lokti though, hope he can find his place in New Jersey.

Terrible return for a possible top 6 stupid trade.

Not just saying this cause he's gone, but never understood this statement. He is way too small and soft to be a top 6 player. I hope he proves me wrong but I saw nothing that impressed me during his time here. He would benefit greatly playing over seas on a bigger surface where there is less hitting.

Gagne and Williams will be gone soon they will have a chance to earn a spot then.

It's already been suggested.

Dean Lombardi:"You’ve got the issue is that after his contract is up he could go back to Russia. You just try to make the best deal you can"

Moulson plays with John Tavares, Purcell plays with two of the best playmaking/shootes the NHL has every seen outside of a Handful of players.

A 5th for Loki is what you can expect for someone that has shown zip at the NHL level.

...and at the ahl level

Fair trade for both sides. Lokti is a decent prospect (not a potential top-six forward, though) that had no future in LA. As others have mentioned, Vey has already surpassed him on the Center depth chart.

Considering that he requested a trade and his contract expires after this year (he may bolt to Russia), that's a fair deal.

Best of luck to Lokti. I wish him all the best in NJ.

My initial reaction to this trade isn't very good. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem trading Lokti, it just boggles my mind that Westgarth brought more in return.

It's an expiring contract guys, and as Lombardi says, he could be headed back to Russia.

That's about his worth.

Meanwhile, and I will say this again. It ****ing blows that he didn't get his name on the Cup. Still not happy about that.

This. As Lokti's biggest fan, I knew it was coming. I just thought he wouldn't get a **** return after that plug Westy brought in two picks as well as a player. Maybe Dean just wants to help the Devils so they can get back to the finals this year and we can beat em again?

Carolina had a specific need, they wanted filled, The Extra pick was so that LA would take Stewart's contract.

Stewart is in the AHL for a reason, he is not part of the Kings roster plans.

Well. At least he maintained his original value  A shame we didn't have the room for him. I can definitely see the appeal of him as a Devil, he plays their brand of hockey, and Kovalchuk would be a good influence on him. Oh well, at least we got something for him. We now have 9 picks in this year's draft.

Terrible return for a possible top 6 stupid trade.

League depth charts are filled to the brim with "possible top 6" players. They're a dime a dozen.

It's a matter of demand. If a GM wants what Westgarth brings more than a GM wants what Loktionov brings, it doesn't matter who has more talent, or who should have more worth.

Maybe the Devils are buying low, and will get a great deal out of it. Only time will tell.

Wait, we traded our first to the CBJ, and acquired two picks (Westgarth and Lokti trades). What's the ninth?

2013 NHL Entry Draft Picks
[table="head;width=35em"]Round |Number of Selections and Position
1|No Selection|
2|One Selection|
3|One Selection|
4|Two Selections, Carolina's Pick|
5|Two Selections, New Jersey's Pick|
6|One Selection|
7|Two Selections, Dallas' Pick|

We swapped 7th rounders with Dallas in the last draft. Traded them our 7th in 2012 for their 7th in 2013.

That's because Carolina gave the kings another pick to take back Stewart's contract.

At least Loktionov got his name on the cup before being traded....:sarcasm:

Don't worry, I know that he didn't get his name on the cup.

Doesn't really matter. Lotkionov will be off to Russia at the end of the season regardless.

This ^

If Loki does not receive a good amount of minutes on the Devils, he will simply return home to Russia.

He can make more money, and play more minutes.
