i kind of hope he fails. dont want to see another purcell/moulson situation

Why? Purcell/Moulson wouldn't be in the Kings' top six, and that's where they need to be in order to be effective.

I think we'll be happy to see Toffoli on the scene next year taking a spot on the 2nd line.

He isn't going to fail in all honesty cause he was better than them on our team. What doesn't make sense is why we couldn't include him in a trade package to get more return or to sweeten the pot. This makes no sense. I understand he wanted to go but we traded him for nothing.

was hoping for a 3rd but meh. At least its a pick which is better than taking a prospect or roster player back imo

Good to see a Cup can't even take the edge off.

Moulson signed a tryout contract with the Islanders when they were the worst team in the league, so nobody saw all these 30 goal seasons. Purcell, he's pulling his own weight, but also playing on a team with Stamkos and St.Louis.

Win some, lose some.

A trade takes two people,

Unless you are saying Lombardi ignored better offers.

No one is going to give up anything significant for a guy that showed Zip at the NHL level.

Lotki was drafted with a 5th round pick. Excellent asset management by Lombardi

It would be a problem if we traded him to Toronto or Pittsburgh.

Moulson plays with John Tavares, Purcell plays with two of the best playmaking/shootes the NHL has every seen outside of a Handful of players.

A 5th for Loki is what you can expect for someone that has shown zip at the NHL level.

Lokti is damaged goods like Rosa before him. More concussions than full seasons in the NHL (1 vs. 0).

I think its a good fit for Lokti.
He plays best at Center, and there's just a numbers game in LA so there
was no way he was cracking into the top 9 with our roster this year.

I don't like the trade because i don't think we got equal value, Memorial cup winner // stanley cup winner... though he was only on the ice for 1 or 2 games in the playoffs,
still has ton of big game experience... I think this easily could be a purcell
moulson brian boyle case. Like i've said in the past, Dean hasn't successfully groomed
at top 6 forward yet in LA.

Best of luck to Lokti, i like his game and i think he will do well in Jersey.

Though its not so bad since we got a huge return for westgarth.

I'm not. I'm saying we could of included him in a trade for a roster player as a deal sweetener. I'm sure we could of traded Richardson or Penner too and it would of brought better return if you added Loktionov or more as a safety valve

Lombardi's job is to get the best deal he can. If Loktionov by himself is worth a 5th round pick, and what we know of as the reality of today is all we can go on, is he really going to add any value to some larger deal?

I really hope he doesn't follow in the footsteps of Segal or Clune and just flourish with his new team!

Well, now we can include a 5th round pick as a sweetener instead. Obviously no team consider him worth than a 5th so the pick should do just as good in that regard.

That would require someone to want Penner or Richardson, who are both quite Expensive for the lack of production they bring.

If there was a deal for Richardson, he would be gone already. Cause Dean is paying that guy 1.8m to sit in the stands.

Penner is reaching that point as well, except it's costing the Kings 3m.

Prediction: he returns to Russia after failing to pin down a full-time NHL gig.

Yep. I don't think NJ is a particularly good landing spot for him, as they play a similar style as us and have their centers just as entrenched as we do. He'll have to make it as a winger and uh, I don't know about that.

I really hope we can give our top 6 potential players a roster shot. I haven't seen any on our team yet. I know it's early but I'd love to see Vey Toffoli on a good line. I really hope Dean doesn't suck at giving top 6 kids a real shot cause I haven't seen it yet.

**** Dean. **** everbody. **** this team. I'm out.

...only kidding. Well, about the **** this team part. I'm just going to cry while I stare at pics of him with the cup for the next few days.

You guys remember Nicklas Bergfors? Former Devils 1st round pick who was highly touted and expected to be a top six forward in the NHL.

Had one pretty productive season in the NHL and chipped in some offense, bounced around a couple of teams, became a journeyman, and now just an average KHL player.

Andrei Loktionov's chances of becoming a top six forward are in the NHL is just as good as Bergfors' chances. The Devils have Henrique and Zajac as their top two centers. Do any of you seriously think Loktionov is going to jump ahead of any of those two?

LAK tried to move him last yr but not much interest. Another key point is that they are trying to stockpile draft picks...

FYI, Loktionov was 5th on Manchester in scoring. Ahead of him are Vey, Toffoli, Kozun and Pearson. Vey has surpassed Loktionov in the depth charts and Weal will get an opportunity to play in the top six in Manchester. There's also the option of signing Nick Shore at the end of the season and assigning him to the Monarchs.

Exactly, Nick Shore will be a top six player, That kid has sick hands, vision.

I was a Huge Loki Homer, but the kid didn't do anything with his chances, he could not play wing either.

Linden Vey is what the Kings wanted Loki to be. A 200ft Center , that hits, has vision, scores, and can play all THREE forward spots.
