He should be gone and Put Coronato there who is a better player and futur key one
It’s Mantha’s job to get traded for Coronato to have a spot. Coronato is going to be a good one but he definitely isn’t currently better than Kuzmenko.

Why get Mantha in the first place ?
The Guy has very low value around the league

Literally just returned a 2nd and a 4th as a rental a few months ago. That is not "very low value."

This is 100% an asset play. Spending a couple million for at least a 3rd rounder.

The only thing blocking Coronato is mediocre play. If he can avoid that he'll get plenty of opportunity on this roster. But if he is looking like he did late in the preseason he may not even be in the lineup every game.

I'm not interested in extending Kuz. For a Christmas present send him to a playoff team and get back a pick/prospect. I love his personality, but he reminds me too much of Kristian "Useless" Huselius
I was going to roast your comparable until I went back and looked at Juice’s numbers: six seasons of 20 or more goals, including 34 in ‘06-‘07. Love Kuzy too, and he is elite offensively, but he’ll be more valuable to a contender at the deadline than he would for us to re-up in the offseason imho.

Kuzmenko should be gone? And how do you propose to accomplish that and get a maximum value return?

Retain and trade at TDL while also hiding the clip where he can't math? (Is asked to select another player to play with on 2v2, proceeds to select 5).

Absolutely. However I got the impression that Badi wants Kuz gone ASAP.

Oh, I see what you mean now. Yeah, I agree with you. Throwing his name out there right now is not doing us any favors. I'm OK with a TDL trade. I'm OK with a short extension.

Woah shit you came back out of nowhere. Disappeared off the deep end for almost 3 years. Welcome back lol

I mean you started 4-0, aren’t the Flames going to battle for play offs ?

I think we might try to trade up. Move expiring contracts for assets to out towards RFA. Compete but not lose assets for nothing.

Only exception is maybe a short term extension for Kuzmenko. But definitely not keeping him and letting him expire.

LOL

No they won’t be close and if they were Kuzmenko is there act kind of player you don’t want for the play-offs. Invisible 95% of the time, pads stats and does nothing to help a team win.

He is perfect playing for a Flames team where the games mean nothing and the fans have no standards when it comes to evaluating players.

It must be difficult being a Flames fan when you hate the team so much and have so little respect for your fellow Flames fans.

No not really. Especially now that they committed to the rebuild. I am a little worried that Conroy will buy into this resurgence and he has shown he is a meh GM but the team is heading in the right track.

Plus guys like Parekh and Basha much more likeable than the garbage we currently have so that is a positive.

He has been correctly managed by Hus. Glad he benched his ass vs Jersey.

Kuzie is a very talented man, but also very streaky, inconsistent and has very little D awareness plus his work ethic is very questionable.

He has to start working on his cons if he wants to play in the Show, otherwise he is heading back to Russia/Europe.

Coronato has to be rewarded and stays on that line tonight.

I want to see 1 of Kuz/Mantha traded by XMas.

I think Mantha has fit better this year and brings more versatility playing across all 4 lines more successfully than Kuzmenko.

I liked what Kuzmenko brought to the powerplay at the end of last year, but the younger forwards should be given more opportunities on the powerplay instead. Hopefully Kuzmenko can put up a few points and get shipped out relatively quickly.

Tough to find the right fit for him come the deadline though. Contenders usually already have their offensive/pp guys set and are more looking to add depth pieces or guys that can at the very least play both sides of the puck

Seems like a guy you want to ship out sooner rather than later, and maybe instead of only the draft pick, get a struggling player maybe with some extra term (like a year). If he has like 30 points 50 games into the season that market will be almost non-existent. You also want to look at the teams that started slow but had playoff aspirations.

I look at Nashville.
Maybe something along the lines of McCarron, 2nd or 3rd for Kuzmenko (20% retention)

They have a bunch of two-way guys but can't score at all. Calgary in turn can just sit on McCarron, and either flip him for a 5-7th round for a team looking for some size at the deadline, bury him in the AHL or use him a 4th liner when we hit some injuries/start moving bodies out.
